With a pretty healthy receiving core, and with our O line seeming to get just a little bit better each week with Matt Luke as the teacher, I'm not to worried about offense putting up enough points to win what I'm hoping the ACCCG. I'm also thinking that in the playoffs if Cade stays healthy and our receiving core stays healthy that late in the season, our offense should be good enough to score enough points to win against anybody...
My biggest worry about our 2024 FB team is without a doubt our defense. Some of you are going to hate me for saying this and I'm truly sorry but I've held back from sharing my own opinion of what has worried most with our defense for long enough and I do hope that I'm wrong, but I don't think that I am.
My worry about the defense is Wes Goodwin. Since BV took the HC job at Oklahoma, each year under Goodwin our defensive guys haven't seemed to play with the same fire as they did with BV, and I don't remember his defense ever playing like they've thrown the towel in like they did in last years Duke game, or the way they seem to have done in this years UGA game.
IMO under Wes Goodwin our defense in games that we've won and especially in the games we've lost, they don't seem to play with that same FIRE that they played with in every game win or lose under Brent Venables. Agree or disagree bc it doesn't matter to me one way or the other, when Venables was the DC at Clemson, our defense played with the same fire that BV coached with. During BV's 9 or 10 years he was the DC at Clemson, I don't remember a single game win or lose that our players ever seemed to lose their will to win especially the way they did in the beat down of the Georgia game...
Another thing that I don't remember happening with BV as our DC, I don't remember our defense having such a hard time getting some of the best defensive talent in the country to commit of sign with Clemson, and I do agree that the NIL is the cause of us not pulling a lot of the top defensive talent in the country, but I also have no doubt that not having BV is a cause of it also... I've had my say, and if TD-ing this post makes you feel better, have at it, TD away But be assured, I'm not the only one who's watched our defense lose that Fire they had and played with under Brent Venables. For an OC or a DC to coach with the same fire that BV had, it's a must to have that same intense passion for the game that BV has!!!

No way I'd have Bama at 1. Yeah, first half they had uga's number, but to not make any 2nd half adjustments, Bama D suspect.
I'd have ND and usc ahead of Clemson. Too early for any meaningful rankings.
