It would be nice if they had to sit out a season unless their coach leaves, documented family issues, parenthood, or they graduated. Things like that.

For the teams they are abandoning and roster management. To incentivize the players not to transfer the second the get butt hurt about playing time. In many cases in would benefit the player and their development.

Actually it doesn’t. Having to sit out a year hurts them drastically. These players are trying to grow and take their talents to the professional level and they want to go where they can showcase those talents, get maximum playing time, and exposure for the next level. Sitting out literally puts them in the dark.

a normal university would counter this kind of thing by getting transfer players of their own.

I wonder what happened with Dabo and this kid? We usually don't see 4 star redshirt players transfer out with their time to shine was coming up this very next season!!!

He was a consensus 3* AO52. Can't fault the kid for moving on. Glad he landed at Az State. I don't think they're a one hit wonder. Saying, they can build a solid program and the b12 move was the best thing to happen for them.
As for Nobel, he was waiting another year at least. We still have brown. Best of luck to the young fella. He'll do well.

out of control, like a balloon the keeps expanding, if he was a 4, it was a fringe 4, somewhere in the 400 range-

We don’t have room to pick up a wide receiver in the portal unless we have a wide receiver leave in the portal. It’s good for both sides. Perhaps he would have developed here. Perhaps he will develop at Arizona state. But the reality is that it’s probably an equal trade for him to move on and for us to try to sign someone else. I’m willing to bet that if he were close to where he needed to be here, he would’ve elected to stay here. And we likely have no NIL money for people that far back on the depth chart.

Noble got in the dawg house a while back for off the field issues having to do with wreckless driving and I think he probably just saw the 2 Freshmen WR's #1 & #12 along with Brown coming back and needed a fresh start. Best of luck

Thanks for the reminder. Since we have so few, I had completely forgotten about his wreckless driving incident.

I am wishing him the best. He stayed around for a while and gave it a chance. Hope he does well. I will follow him a bit here and there.

Agreed.
I think he has a chance to be the 1st former Tigers player to transfer to actually "make a name for himself"!
EJ Williams had something going on at Indiana - but he has transferred again. Ajou Ajou - never did much after leaving. Frank Ladson - went to Miami and at least started; but never really blew up. Beaux Collins - eh, did okay. Dacari Collins - was a rotational player for NCSU.
Noble has the skill set to be dangerous in the right offense. And, he's young enough to grow in their system. Most importantly, he has that CLEMSON TIGERS associated with his name: "so he likely gets the benefit of the doubt as a transfer and gets as many opportunities to shine as possible"! Especially at at place like ASU.

I just don't see it. Great WR build, but he isn't elite at anything. He's not exceptionally fast or quick, his hands aren't anything special, and he's not a 50/50 ball guy. I questioned the take out of HS and was one of the many things I've held against Grisham for why our WR room was so bad up until this year. He just doesn't have the traits to be a wide receiver that can effectively play against the elite athletes you see at corner week after week in the Southeast. There is no comp for him that has had any level of success on the major power 4 level. I wish him luck, but I don't believe he'll be missed.

You're forgetting Chez Mellusi. He became the starter was having a solid season in Wisconsin in 2021 with 815 yds until he tore his ACL. He was even doing well the last 3 seasons until he broke his leg and ankle in 2022, broke his arm in 2023, and this season until he called it off early to focus on his recovery. Wisconsin said he was welcome back at any time during the season. Would have loved to see him stay at Clemson.

Good luck to him. That’s a great place to land. Better than what I thought he could get.

No one is mentioning if we get by Texas. Noble has our play book and can give it to his new team. He actually can be on the sidelines for AZ St.
