I agree but I really don't think that a 12 team playoff was the answer to get to a true National Champion. IMO, a 6 to 8 teams would have been a lot better without 1 of the 12 teams getting lucky toward the end of a season and adding 8 more teams does that...

"Clemson's surprising shakiness on defense has most ACC coaches I've talked to choosing between Miami and SMU."

I can't remember the last time that defense was what was hurting the team. Maybe the orange bowl fiasco vs WV???

I still don't get why no one addresses the fact that SMU has to play at Virginia. If SMU loses that game won't you have to go to the next tie breaker,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No because unfortunately utilizing the tiebreakers Miami would win the 3 way tie

Then it would reset to a 2 way tie breaker with SMU. SMU would then win that because it goes by record vs common opponent in order of finish in the standings. Unless Louisville loses all of their remaining and UVA wins all of their remaining games, Louisville will be ahead of UVA in the standings. We would also lose a 2 way tie with Miami because of record against common opponent Louisville. Our best and easiest path would be for Miami to lose again.

I know im looking at it with orange glasses on, but I think the tiebreakers should be reversed. I think after record vs common opponents it should then go to combined win % of opponents and then if it is still tied record vs common opponents in order of finish. IMO SOS should trump order of finish. Currently, you are awarding a team that may have had the best win but at the same time they also had the worse loss.

I have not researched this but if SMU loses to Va. how does that affect the outcome? Highest ranked team? Assuming we win out, I believe we outrank SMU. Just asking

see above, I just posted the answer

Miami has to lose or Louisville has to lose out and UVA win out

There is no such luck as UVA winning out bc it won't happen...

They're ranked where they should be!! I'll give'um the loss with the jailhouse dogs, but Louisville is un--excusable, that was a defensive and offensive embarrassment.. So they have only meet 2 teams that gave them a game and they chocked on both!! Better luck next year boys!!
