hate to admit it but i think the portal has been a gamechanger for Clemson bball

This is maybe the only stretch in my lifetime that Clemson basketball has been able to consistently put a competitive basketball team on the court year to year. It usually depended on if we had a good player coming back as whether we would be anywhere close to decent. The past 4 seasons we seemed to have gotten better results with each year and those teams were totally different year to year. So.. IMO the portal has revitalized Clemson basketball.

I think there is certainly some truth to that. Prior to the portal chaos, CBB was very inconsistent. Now that the portal is the main platform for MBB to fill rosters, it helps programs like Clemson. Having said that, we had a core of returning guys the last 2 years that added some stability. This year will be much different. The league being abysmal has also helped us.

Makuba was a loss but if Texas hadn't paid him he would have likely declared for the draft anyway so he wasn't gonna be here regardless. Guess we will have to see with Hoffler.
