That is why the networks want big games on at noon. The record will be short as Texas-Michigan probably beats it.

This is why Clemson would be a prime candidate for the SEC or Big 10 should they break free of the ACC. ESPN would get more eyeballs and appealing match ups with Clemson playing SEC teams than the likes of Wake, Duke, BC etc.

But people on here are constantly telling us that fans are losing interest bc of NIL/Portal.
Consistently posts about how such and such don’t care anymore and they’ll find other things to do on Saturdays and how many many others are following them and doing the same and losing interest.
Lol yeah sure… the opening weekend only broke multiple viewing records but again… many are losing interest… just smh

I think many will lose interest in late October-early November when their teams flounder. Also, the games played this past weekend were big match ups. LSU-Nichols, Clemson-App State, Georgia-Tenn-Tech, USC-Utah State, and BC-Duquesne will not get nearly as many eyeballs.

Arkansas @ Oklahoma St
Boise St @ Oregon
As well as conference play in a few other games this weekend. Yeah… nobody will watch those just smh

And you are picking the best ones, which will obviously get more views. When 120 teams begin dropping out of sight, only to be competing for some meaningless bowl game, about a dozen teams will get big ratings. The rest will suck.

People said the same thing about the NFL when all the "taking a knee" started, yet today the NFL has never been more popular.

It doesn't hurt that there is nothing else to watch on the Big 3 networks right now unless you like previously aired game shows or scripted show reruns. The new fall season with new programming will be starting soon. Prime time TV sucks.
