Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking. I just don't see someone like Garrett taking a job at a lesser program over the job that he has at Clemson, plus, I don't see him chasing after a HC job at a lesser conference. When he leaves Clemson, it will be for a Power conference school and nothing less!!!

Agree, gets another year with cade etc. But he'll get a good gig. Especially when we make the championship game and win. I think the ### would break loose on big time offers.

Financially, yes

But he would have his own program and be the boss, but it's stepping stone move. If he doesn't succeed in a group of 5 school, he'll seriously hurt his chances of securing a lucritive school in the future.

Just because he's on ECU's list...

doesn't mean ECU is on his list. If GR is patient, he can and will do WAY BETTER than ECU.

I don't think GR is ready to jump ship. Plus I am sure he would see his brother struggling at 3-4 at a top funded school and would weigh his options tightly. Look at CBV and his current struggles, and both CBV and Lincoln have been using the portal heavily but teams are struggling. At this rate both guys mentioned could be Coordinators again in a year or 2.

Why would GR who is making millions, very young in his career, want to jump ship at first opportunity? I think he is probably around w more yrs minimum unless an offer comes just too good to pass up.

If some college offers Riley a HC job and he takes it - congrats to Coach

Riley and I will wish him well. Having said that - I definitely prefer that Coach Riley stay at Clemson as I think he is just now starting to hit his stride with the team and our culture.

But at the end of the day, I'm not so worried as I used to be about coordinator changes. If Clemson has good coordinators - eventually some other program is going to want them for a HC position. IMO Clemson's football program is built on a solid foundation that can absorb and adapt to these inevitable coordinator changes and Dabo has done a pretty good job of finding the "next man up" when it comes to these changes.

Brent Venables was patient and ended up at OU. Even though they're not doing well he's at least set up for a huge buyout. Riley could hang tight for another year or two and have a shot at a job with Florida, Arkansas, Baylor, heck... maybe even at Oklahoma lol. I feel like it makes no sense to settle for a middle-tier job when you can swing for the fences and if you get fired they'll pay you like $50 million to go away.

Stay a few more years at Clemson and a much better opportunity will come along.

Franklin - UVA
Venables - Oklahoma

No need to go to ECU at this point in his career.

If he’s patient and waits another 2 or 3 years he can get an $EC job. They are impatient and have lots of $$$. He can hire his brother as OC and have a grand ol’ time. Hire BV as DC if you can, young buck.

They should just wait for his brother who is likely gone at USC. He had the #1 draft pick last year and finished 8-5 and he’s 4-4 this year. Before Saban brought Bama back, USC was probably the most highly decorated program in the country and they won’t tolerate 4-4 for long.

I was thinking if G Riley left we could replace him with his brother. They way Usc and Oklahoma's seasons are going we might be able to get Veneables and L Riley cheap.
