Tell ND to join the ACC as a full time member, and in exchange grant them three permanent opponents in the ACC Conference play (Cal, Stanford, and Clemson) plus 4 other rotating ACC opponents.
If ND were to agree to this, then change the intra-ACC schedule for all members to 7 games (instead of the current eight).
Clemson ends up playing ND and SC every year, also FSU if indeed FSU is OK getting their rear ends kicked by us every year. NC State stays on as a permanent opponent as well. Then, four rotational ACC opponents.
Also, ND pays Clemson’s ACC exit penalty fee at such time as we are ready to bolt the ACC for the B1G. OK, ND might possibly balk at this last condition.

I totally agree. If you to play Clemson all the time then you should play us as much as the other ACC schools do which is every 3 or 4 years. And our pansy ACc Commissioner needs to tell them that now is the time to become a full member if you want to continue playing our teams in football.

Cal and Stanford every year? Is that a joke? Those two teams are free wins for whoever they are playing against.
The ACC conference is already weak at football and basketball. Why would you remove a conference game?
Maybe you adding a good out-of-conference matchup similar to Georgia or South Carolina? Or are you adding ANOTHER cupcake to the schedule like Charleston Southern and the Citadel?

Tell them to bring their FB program into ACC like with their other athletic programs, we already have a rivalry coot team that doesn't help us within our conference every time we beat them, we don't need another!!!

No. They bore me now like most other ACC opponents, Like variety in the schedule like the games we have scheduled against LSU, Georgia and Oklahoma.
Now if they will make it an ACC game and all ND has to do is add 2 more games to get to 8 and become a ACC football member that's a different story.

Sure, why not. Love them or hate them ND is one of, if not the biggest brand in College Football regardless of when they last won a title. Playing them yearly would be good exposure for Clemson, and I prefer that to playing scrub teams.

I would be happy for Clemson to play Notre Dame every year. I would also like to see Coastal Carolina on the schedule. I like playing 2 instate teams every year but Coastal Carolina should be in the mix.
Maybe ND could be added to home / away every other year. We would play at ND every 4 years and they would play at Clemson every 4 years.

Since we have Natty aspirations, I would Welcome ND every year… the exposure, the Great Time Slits and the Money would do nothing but help us, Nationally!!!
But they would have to come with their Check Book open and it would have to be Home/ Away or Neutral Site( not Nawlins, tho)

Forget neutral sites. We play at their place, they play at our place. There will be no issues selling the stadiums out. Would still like to see CU vs GA on regular basis again. Home and home, not neutral sites. Doubt we’ll see that happen anymore. The good old days!

The possibility of playing Notre Dame each year would be awesome and we could become huge rivals on the national level. The game would pit 2 Big10 type schools, with great academics, fan bases and would be a great rivalry. The idea that Notre Dame should join the ACC is just not going to happen so the people who do not accept Notre Dame for what they are need to just accept that they are who they are. Line it up.

If you are thinking it would replace that Furman or Citadel game on the schedule that's not going to happen. Those are guaranteed 7th home games ($$$) we don't have to return to their place.
This is probably a scheme thought up by ESPN, Jim and ND to keep us trapped in the ACC. Think about it. If we leave the ACC ND's ACC schedule will be a clown show and they know it. They are more concerned about putting together a strong schedule in the future should the BIG and SEC expand their number of conference games. Once again all about protecting themselves and being selfish.

Yep that’s my suspicion. ND knows the dregs of the ACC won’t cut it for their SOS moving forward. He used the phrase “team like Clemson”, so actually I believe he’s angling for a revised ACC scheduling agreement while Phillips and ESPN are negotiating a path to provide Clemson and FSU unequal revenue share.

The rest of the ACC is trash so the 5 "conference" games they get each year are worth very little. With conferences expansion and increasing the number of conference games it will continue to become harder for an independent to find quality teams to play. We only need to find one quality nonconference matchup and we can easily do that without them. Don't enable their independent dreams; tell em to pound sand.

I get tired of Notre Dame and their selfish wants. If they want to play Clemson more regularly, then they should join the same conference. It could be the ACC or another conference if Clemson moves.
On the other hand, if conferences were to disband in the future, THEN we could talk about scheduling them as we would need to build a different schedule ourselves.

Until and I don’t think it will ever happen ND to either get in ACC with all sports or get out. They are concerned now that their weak schedule will not get them in the CFP. I believe good teams that have their hands full with their own schedule will begin refusing to play ND just to accommodate them. They keep all their money in football including their NBC contract of 4 million each game for them. Even though I’m not a fan of OSU after putting up with them when we played them I pulled for them over Lou Holtz and all the other team poaching past coaches they have had. I’ll never forget being in the valley in 1977 and Dan Devine their coach going onto the field and giving our fans the golden finger.

A lot of "Join the ACC" comments but we wouldnt play them every year even in that scenario.
The only way the two ADs could agree to such a scenario would be if Clemson were also independent or in a smaller conference with 6-7 conference games per year.
Thats really the only way something like this could happen.

Please make this a reality. Gone are the days for conference loyalty. Especially when that conference is currently holding you hostage. Notre Dame vs Clemson is great for Clemson, even if it does make the path to the playoff more difficult.

A close relationship with Notre Dame is not only good football and a great burgeoning rivalry, it's an opportunity for Clemson to secure a foothold in the next college football hierarchy be that B1G or other.
Tiger Football rebounded strongly on 2024 and can really help itself in 2025 with wins over LSU,SMU, Louisville, UNC, and SCU and another playoff berth.

Well, we play a reasonable out-of-conference schedule already with two SEC teams. I am not convinced that the system so far really appreciates and rewards adding difficult games. I like the idea that to be the best you have to play the best but I am on the fence about adding this every year. Would we drop th second SEC school then? In that case it does not help our schedule.
