Technology is great

when it works, but what happens when there's a problem? What if one side's communication stops working? What if one side doesn't have it? In theory it sounds great, but it won't be long before someone learns how to manipulate it-like how they fake injury to stop the clock. Instant replay/review is a perfect example-good intentions, but many times just ruins the game and they still don't always get it right. Too much technology takes away from the game too many times imho.

Communicate from pressbox down to sideline coaches?!

I don't recall that specifically, but it does bring up the question of nefarious actions. With all the electronics, surely some unscrupulous characters will try to cheat the system and either disrupt or intercept coms.

What if what's being told to your QB is bleeding through to the coach on the other team. Bank on it that some coaches will have some ingenious tech person at their schools that will tell them how to pick up on what the other coach is telling his QB, I wouldn't trust it until it's made full proof from the other sideline picking up on what's being said from the opposing coach...

The NFL and MLB Pitchcom use this tech.

They have spares. If something goes wrong, they have spares.

My guess would be to just go into assuming you're public like at NASCAR.

That’s just not the case. NFL has been using this technology for decades.

What the pros do now if one side isn't working is that the other side stops using their equipment to be fair.

I doubt we'll use it for much. It's more useful for teams that huddle. In a spread offense (and particularly if you go fast), you still need signals for the other 10 players on the field and you can't have a QB yelling the play call at the LOS.

I do think we'll use it for coaching the QB from the sideline or upper box.... it's a good way to communicate things to adjust on the field - or where to attack the D with certain keys for the QB.

Hard to beat sending play with player from the sidelines. But then again the stone tablet and chisel was replaced. There will always be change to build a better mouse trap.

Man I must be kinda dumb. I thought this was already a "thing". Either way, I still like our big bingo-squares of (4) images on the sidelines. That should be a fail-safe if anything, and I enjoy speculating what they might mean.

And I like Dave Doeren getting his thong in a twist.
