Just an FYI...Coots women's BB loses about $10 Million per year...

Not the smartest investment but I have coots constantly bringing up girls BB when I'm talking about football as if they are somehow on the same level. Talk about a practice in futility. No one ever accused them of being smart though.

Because they sell season tickets for $55. The most expensive seats come to less than $500 including donation. And there is basically zero attributable media revenue.

From that article, the close to $10m is total expenses. It doesn't say that

is the loss. I think you're confused to what is what. They do have revenues.

spend $10m on women's basketball. Taking that in a vacuum, I think it's very evident that they get more than $10m in exposure through their success and visibility. I would argue it's not even close to a bad investment, it's probably a home run. Also, that $10m selected from the article says nothing about the income generated by the basketball team through sponsorships and ticket sales, so insinuating it's a $10m deficit is wrong.
So, are you now asking whether women's basketball gets more value than football in exposure? That's a different topic as a whole.

Paying $10 Million dollars for a HoF head coach in either Men's basketball or football would draw 5 maybe 10 times the exposure of WBB. Its not even in the same realm.

in the country and gain exposure through that sport? I'm sorry you feel that way, and am really really happy you don't run the Clemson athletics department with that narrow minded vision.

They can't just decide to dump Staley and go get Nick Saban or Bill Self instead. They already have Staley and she seems happy to stay there, so they should absolutely keep her! And they aren't paying her 10mil either.

Only if they win. Didn't work out for A&M. If we could guarantee a coach was going to win multiple titles and be the pinnacle of the sport, we'd pay whatever we could to get him. But that doesn't exist. Dabo's salary didn't get $10M until he won a NC.

What does this have to do with football or men’s basketball?
Nothing.
Do they benefit from the money they spend on women’s basketball? You bet your ### they do.
Is the benefit in revenue? Nope. That doesn’t mean there’s no benefit.

Any sport without media revenue is guaranteed to lose money, right?
I'd expect only football and men's basketball have a chance to be revenue positive and I'm sure they aren't at many schools.

Only 2 sports make money: football and men’s basketball.
Every other sport loses money so I guess those are bad investments?

They are certainly not good for the bottom line, but do have a place if one could get the cost of travel down. If you are a revenue eating sport instead of a revenue generating sport then you shouldn't be playing teams 750 miles away from home!

Let’s let them keep it, they really don’t have anything else, it’s really a best case scenario for a rival!
We don’t give them a chance to be good at anything else but we did give them a gift last year just to keep them hoping.
I believe this team is going to beat them soundly this season, like usual!

Title Nine forces the funding of sports that are drains on funding and doesn't remotely cover the cost of operation. Any sport that is running in the red should be discontinued or only allowed once funding is secured to be cost neutral, like any business! But that is a real world problem not one where income generating sports are forced to pay for non-generating sports to appease the PC crowd.

Any idea how much our WBB team loses annually? Just curious.
