I'll preface this missive with a brief disclaimer. A few things have changed since last we met.
I'm old.
I've got a cancer that's left me deaf as a post, six inches shorter, unable to walk a straight line and will kill me sooner than I'd like. Some of y'all know that, but it's neither here nor there.
Long story short, I'll be ###### if I live to see the Sons of Clemson mocked by Wake Forest. We have come too far, worked too hard, bled far too much to fear a packet of parading pint-sized Mr. Peanuts on their tricked-out bike.
Not now. Not ever.
The original Gee-Haw'd was called against Wake waaay back in 2006. My fellow Silverbacks remember it as a time of despair and disarray, an era when the Spirit of the Sons of Clemson grew weary of those who belittled all we stood for.
It was an angry spirit, finally roused to action by the taunts of ... do you remember?
I do. Wake Forest.
The blind fury of Gee-Haw'd rose to redeem Clemson from the mockery of Deacons. Still, it took the divine spirit rising in the heroics of the much-much missed Gaines Adams to save that day.
Since then, we've seen far more ups than downs. And if it takes the summoning of Gee-Haw'd to again remind us of the true power of Clemson ... then so be it.
Steel yourselves for the grim task ahead. Gee-Haw'd requires the full heart and throat of every Son of Clemson. There is no stopping, no respite, no heeding the pleas of foes begging for mercy. Steel yourselves for the grim task ahead. Be prepared to ignore the lamentations of the Deacs as their bones -- and their hopes -- are ground into fertilizer for next year's harvest.
It is not easy. And it certainly is not pretty. But if you are ready. If you are willing.
If. You. Are. Clemson.
The result is glorious.
By their own impertinence, their doom is sealed. Let no Deac escape, salt the soil of Truist Field and let the rest of the football world fear.

It really would not be that difficult to turn Groves Stadium into a home game for the Tigers if the Clemson fans would show up in big numbers. This can easily be a front page headline game if the fans would show their real devotion to this team and bring some Orange into the stadium. Wake IS going to play a tough game I promise you that and anything less than 100 per cent will not work Saturday.
I am around Wake fans every day and nothing in the world would make them happier than to send the Tigers home with an L! Support this team!

I still have it an look at it from time to time. I smile and remember the fun. NO one else I know, had people wondering what Rev Dodd's Sermon was be about and was the upcoming game a "Gee Hawd caliber game or not. You and alot of the old silverbacks went a long way, shaping making, helping 'set the tone' of TigerNet. Ya'll really put your mark on it and us.

So happy to read you're back Sir but you'll get less sympathy from me than most of these Younguns since I'm old and now 3 inches shorter too while my cancers are not eating me (as fast as maybe yours).
With that said and mentioning the inevitable, I watched the 6 hours of Queen Elizabeth's grand funeral from start to finish Monday and was a bit mellowed out & struck by her 75 years of tenure at one job and doing it so well with loyalty & pleasure.
Saying, Clemson football has been with me and in my heart since 1958 but I'm realizing more & more each season it has taken (or I chose to give) too much of my time & loyalty and thoughts to it since there's an important need to balance one's hobbies in that life is short.

Welcome back Rev! I hate that you are having to fight that battle. Cancer is a scourge and hopefully one day we will be rid of it, but not in our lifetime probably, to much money to be made in "treatments"! I myself am a sever diabetic, lost half of one foot and part of the other. It will get me in the end, but I hope to enjoy every day that I am on this earth by GOD's grace.
When people look at our stones in the cemetery and they see our names, the date of both birth and death, what they don't see is that -dash- in between. The ones that know us and the legacy we leave behind is defined in that dash. You will, like myself hopefully, leave a lot of great memories, thoughts and stories for many people, friends, family, and acquaintance's. We can only hope that once we are no longer physically here that when people speak of us they speak well! But that day is hopefully years away, I am not as old as many on here(64) but want to see all my grands graduate high school and go to CLEMSON if that is their dream.

They would cure it if they could. Money being made for treatment is not even the tiniest of factors. The company the figures out how to cure cancer would make way more money than they could ever accompish with treatments. Curing people with cancer would also be never ending as well. Anyway, too many important or pwerful people either die of cancer or have someone they care about pass of cancer. If there was a cure, it would be out there now. I lost my Dad and Grandma to cancer. There is no cure, because we haven't figured it out. That's all that it is. Hopefully one day.

... and I used to be angry that more wasn't being done to "cure" it.
I'm not angry anymore. I've learned a lot from some bright medical minds at UNC and Duke about the elusive qualities of cancer and how today's breakthroughs are often rendered less effective by the disease's amazing ability to mutate.
In my case, a non-stop regimen of chemo is holding things in place. At some point it won't -- so the goal is to live the best life possible in the time the Good Lord gives us.
