Every single sports announcer - play-by-play, color commentator, analyst, show host does it. 1000% of them - & they have for decades.
It might have started w/Vitale, but whatever.... It's gotta stop! It's cliched, it's hackneyed, it's worn out, it's lazy - and if these people who claim to be "pros" use it - they are the most uncreative pros in any profession. Thing is - they ALL use it, & it's time it was banned.
Likely, I don't even have to reveal it; I'm sure you can guess:
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME..!!!???"
Each time I hear one of these "pros" say it after a big play (ANY sport), I want to grab a circular saw and cut off my OWN head. We've had 40-50 years of all these clowns using it. Not just some - not 50% of them - - ALL OF THEM!
I'm begging them to use their brains. Be creative. Start being "PROS" & stop insulting your fans & your craft w/this overdone, trite cliche!
And please, please - never again say, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME...!!!??"
It's beyond tired & boring - & should have been banned, outlawed & buried 30 years ago.

Just proves my point. It has permeated every coach, player, fan & now - the entire population. Dabo obviously uses it, like thousands of others in the business, but at least he invents some new ones too, like "BYOG" (or borrows the lesser known ones - like "All IN" or the "ROY BUS").
The saturation level of "ARE YOU KIDDING ME...!?" has gone beyond even smart phones.
As they said once in "Blazing Saddles" "....By gum - Gabby Johnson is right!"

As players AND coaches who absolutely cannot talk without saying “you know” every ten seconds! I sometimes wonder if any of these guys have ever been exposed to an education! I think that at one time the athletic dept. had classes to help these guys learn to handle the media but obviously they don’t anymore.

I don't think you could take off your head with a circular saw , at least not by yourself . It'd take a couple passes and I don't know you but I am thinking you couldn't recover from the first one well enough to finish the job .

There's probably a sportscaster crutch/cliche that drives you a little nuts. Would enjoy hearing your least favorite if ya got one.
