What penalty would you suggest? Holloman got 3 games last season for a DUI, so 2 or 3 would be pretty consistent. Yes, McEvoy is third string, but there isn't really much else you can do shy of kicking him off the team.

It's a valid argument.....if the rules only apply to 3rd and 4th string players, but NOT star starters, then your rules are pathetic.
What USC fans are saying is compare that their football player is arrested on a misdemeanor - NOT officially a DUI, because he was tested and found to have below NC's legal limit for alcohol, but arrested for drinking under-aged, and THEN driving - and by rule IMMEDIATELY suspended. He will most likely get at least a 1 game suspension. Then compare with CU's football player, who has yet to receive ANYTHING in the way of punishment beyond lip service, and most likely won't be punished at all...
Being 3rd or 4th team is irrelevant for South Carolina: DB Devonte Holloman has been a starter for them his whole career, and that didn't stop them from suspending him the first 2 games last season for DUI. ECU and UGA were 2 of the top passing offenses USC faced all last season. The punishment is the same for ALL their FB players...

And Sammy wasn't tested for pot by the CUPD for some odd reason, even though both traffic cops indicated on the arrest report that they smelled obvious burnt marijuana coming from Watkins' car, and both Watkins and the passenger had marijuana on them. Also reported what got their attention in the first place was Watkins' car driving erratically onto the curb a couple of times. Kind of strange, don't you think?
Oh no, of course you wouldn't.....

activities....such as they are.
Why is it so hard for you to admit you were wrong and Sammy Watkins was never charged with any sort of driving offense.....for pete's sake, after everything else if the officer felt like he was driving under the influence, he would've charged him
And Tanner McEvoy WAS charged with speeding--which is undoubtedly why he was pulled over in the first place.
You're just a huge loser, arnchya???

Pot tests are not conclusive to DUI...as it stays in your system for weeks), which is why they normally don't do them.
They can do it. But it doesn't really prove anything.

Yeah that one...he was punished with suspensions from actual spring and fall camps, kicked off of school campus, suspended for actual games in-season, and ultimately dismissed from the team. You mean that one?

what Watkin's punishment is RIGHT NOW???????????
Swinney has said since it happened he'll address his punishment before the season starts.
Stephen Garcia NEVER received any legitimate punishment for all the offenses he was "suspended" for.....he was still in attendance at the spring and fall camps he was suspended from. And even if he didn't start that UGa game, he still played in it. He was supposedly suspended from the ECU game and was on the sidelines----until ECU took the lead. Then Spurrier put him in.

### games did he miss? Kentucky? That was more about giving Shaw another shot since ECU. Here:
http://www.dixiefriedsports.com/Stephen_Garcia_Timeline.html
I see twice of missed Spring Practice, once after being arrested AND keying car before he was punished. Oh man, I'm sure that was rough. I also find October 6th, 2011 interesting since it looks like Garcia didn't play cause he had an injury, not "suspensions". No school campus removal, either.
Christ, I know have some coot buddies and they are ashamed of Garcia's actions. You're acting like every mistake he made wasn't even his fault.

from nothing. Sammy has been doing service asked of him, sorry if it doesn't jive with what you wanted to have happened. And if "The punishment is the same for ALL their FB players" were true, Garcia would have missed ample playing time, but we wasn't, so you're basically an idiot.

McEvoy only got arrested Sunday night....give him a day or two, and you'll immediately see him face punishment that no one has seen Watkins face for several months now....
Garcia only missed 2/3rds of his final season....he was off the team. That doesn't count at all? Garcia came to USC as an early-enrollee, with the hopes of participating in spring practice and getting a chance at early playing time as a true fresh. Instead, he ended up missing the entire spring practice and was so unprepared for the season, that they chose to red-shirt him.
His other infractions caused him miss other spring and fall camps, which resulted in him being suspended for the first 2 games in '08, and missing several other games. As a result, USC had to endure going through 2008 with Smelley as our QB...

you keep talking about how he didn't start in the NCSU game in 2008... that's because he wasn't the starter! He didn't earn the starter role until later that year after Smelley crapped the bed.
Again... Garcia NEVER missed a game due to suspension in his career until he was finally kicked off the team after his 5th brush with the law.

No, garcia missing 2/3rds of his sr season does not count. As you said, he was off the team and you can't punish someone that is not there.

McEvoy has been doing service asked of him too...you talking about those team-organized visits to hospitals and elementary schools? That's nothing, that's what our FB teams do every year without fail.
But our FB players that do all that they are asked to do, also get punished for off-field arrests. What has been done with Watkins??

You can't use anything he did BEFORE he got arrested as punishment AFTER he was arrested.
And our coach says he's been doing what's asked. Do we know what it is? No, but neither do you.
And let me know what he actually gets punished with, not a "till further notice suspension from nothing from the athletics department"....which is to say, not your coach.
If Sammy had been suspended at the time of his incident, you'd scream "He can't miss anything, there's not practice". Yet you see it as a fine fit here

He's suspended from "team activities"........there are no further "team activities" until your chickens report on Thursday.
Sammy was arrested after his exams were over. There were no further "team activities" to suspend him from (not NCAA sanctioned) until Friday when he reports.
You self-righteous analorifices need to explain the usuck policy in relationship to Stephen Garcia.

legal situation had not been rectified. He was suspended for the East Carolina game and then played the Georgia game even though he had not gone to trial yet. What do you want Sammy suspended from, voluntary workouts can't do that according to the NCAA.

Holloman was punished, end of story. Watkins hasn't been punished, and 99% of CU posters here are saying that he shouldn't, and the other 1% are being branded as "coots" for thinking that he should....
This is all in response to the VERY many of you that somehow still contend that Swinney is a disciplinarian, while Spurrier doesn't do anything.
Watkins STILL had summer workouts and strength and conditioning with the team, that are labeled as "involuntary" but everyone with a quarter brain knows is anything but....Watkins could have been prohibited from participating in those. They are considered a VERY important part of getting the team physically ready for the upcoming season...in many ways even MORE important than fall camp.
It would have been substantial punishment to exclude Watkins from working out and practicing with his QBs and other teammates. But that didn't happen, did it? Nothing happened.....
