NFL controls the draft rules and they won’t change the rules unless it benefits them or the courts make them change

There’s a huge difference between a 19 year old kid trying to hit jumpers over LeBron and a 19 year old kid trying to block Myles Garrett. Grown azzz men with mortgages and families are gonna annihilate even the best teenagers on the line of scrimmage.

That’s the real reason. There are exceptions to every rule. But it’s all about safety.

Is it? IMO it’s all about money. NFL gets a minor league system at zero cost. They don’t have to guess who will develop out of HS which is a big cost savings

Yep has zero to do with safety, imo, but after watching college football for many years and watching the NFL most 1 year college guys are no where close to being ready for pro ball. Some really good players never amount to much when they get to the top level. Everyone is bigger and faster.

No, it's not at all about safety. The NCAA has no rules about when players can go pro.

It's about protecting the professional players' incomes.

It's the pro leagues, with their collective bargaining with the respective unions that sets the minimum age for participation in the pro leagues.

When the NFL Player's Union says they want to have their jobs taken by 18/19 year old kids.

The basketball one-and-done and the football junior season are NOT NCAA rules, but are the effect of the NBA and NFL Player's Unions negotiating a minimum age limit with the leagues.

I doubt the NFL Players Union would want it.

The NBA accepting 18-19 yr olds has hurt college & pro ball

A lose-lose possibly forced by the courts. Massive talent drain from U.S. colleges. Massive dilution in US player development from ages 18-21.

This new ecosystem has resulted in Jokic and Doncic, who both played as successful Euro professionals in their teens, supplanting Americans as the best players in the world.

Attendance and viewership, college and NBA, have been negatively impacted.

The NFLPU would never want it.
