What also needs to be acknowledged is that success is the key to recruiting.
If we can somehow find something consistent in the offense even with a bad o line, success itself will help.
Like the receivers making plays after the catch, or Mafah being a beast

The OL didn’t get this way overnight and will not be fixed overnight.
From my limited observations, very few offensive line men move from HS to starting on a ranked team. IMO it is a harder transition for OL than most of the skilled positions (HS to college) … add to it the time it takes to build depth.
CML is proven in developing top OLs on several occasions.

He's only been here 7 months. Frankly, I am surprised he garnered as much traction as he did with the 25 recruits in such a short period of time.
Recruiting is about relationship building. If the results for the 2026 OL class are mediocre then I will join in the criticism.

Clemson has stamped its brand.
Now, we are doing extremely well for 2025. Just not so much the OL department.
He’s just simply losing these recruits.
I really don’t mean to lay into Luke as if he’s the sole reason. I understand money talks, and so do trophies. So, there you go.
But I would’ve liked to see him get a big one. Maybe Sanders will surprise us.

Deshaun and Trevor didn’t need great lines
I honestly think that Deshaun and Trevor’s poise and speed of their play helped the line when they were there.
If a QB, like DW or Trevor, knows exactly where he’s throwing before the snap, then the line looks great. And they play better.
It’s all cause and effect to me.
Every position group affects the other in some way.

We still have plenty of good OL recruits and he'll get more. Coaching them guys up and getting max potential is the most important thing. We've recruited tons of 4* and a 5 in the past few years that haven't done much of anything with the previous coaching. You'll see the Luke effect on the field....where it counts!

Luke didn't "lose" anything. Clemson lost out on a few. At least Luke has some high level recruits talking to us that would not give us the time of day before. His clock just started. His impact is being felt and will only grow from here.

MIGHT BE OLD SCHOOL BUT I WOULD RATHER HAVE CHARACTER KIDS THAT LIKE DISCIPLINE AND COACHING THAN THE GUYS THAT JUST WANT A BAG. WHAT KIND OF MOTIVATION DO THESE KIDS HAVE. THERE ARE STILL PLENTY OF CHARACTER KIDS OUT THERE.

Seems you pine for the good ole days when the players your school signed loved your school as you did. What makes you think players as recent as Watson and Lawrence wouldn't have taken big NIL money to play somewhere else? You don't think it's possible a player can want discipline and coaching while at the same time earning some money to help his family? Why does NIL have to mean they guy has low character?

And couple generational QB's got us thru just better than average Olines but those days are over..
So it's $ and relationships which Clemson can handle responsibility over time and make it work.
CFP's are gonna be rarer and another Natty is gonna be a once in a decade thing, imho.

The new and improved Offensive Line will not happen in one season, or two…Dabo has never made the Oline a priority as far as his program goes and that’s what other coaches are telling these recruits. I have faith in Luke but he’s in a challenging position. People expecting a big improvement with the Oline on Aug 31 are going to be disappointed.

Disagree. I am not saying our line will dominate uga but they will not look lost. I think Clemson needed a new vision for the OL. I think caldwell was an avg coach and a great guy. Luke is intense and very detail oriented. My son has been to many ol camps at Clemson with Caldwell, Austin and its night and day different now. I think Caldwell got past his prime and Austin tried to continue what Caldwell had done rather than putting his own stamp on it.

Clemson needs for the playing field to be level again. Until some legislation is passed to regulate the NIL and transfer portal mess, we are looking at the new normal.
I do have a question. Are any of the other Clemson sports paying transfer players up front to transfer to Clemson?

That was the easiest thing to negative recruits us on but Luke has put plenty in the league. If he keeps getting 1-2 high level recruits and builds the 4 year guys I think we will ne fine
