I get that he wants to show loyalty to the girls who committed to him at Chattanooga, but I worry that a SoCon level team isn't going to do very well in the ACC.

I look at it this way...
1) Would have our Team won the SoCon Tournament the last 2 years? (I don't think so). However, only 3 girls came from there, but they were arguably 3 of the best 4 available off that times.
Further.....
2) 3 of the girls he's brought over know the him, and they know what he expects. Also, they wouldn't follow him to Clemson if they didn't like playing for him. That speaks volumes.
But, it doesn't end there....
3) He's actually signed 4 girls from UNC, Alabama, Mercer and Belmont. All girls that are some of the best available in the portal. He's basically cherry picked the best girls from the portal and got immediate experience.
4) He's actually brought in the best talent he can find right now as we graduated our top 2 scorers and our #3 scorer entered the transfer portal. So this amount of transfers were necessary to be competitive immediately.
The real test will be recruiting the top talent from HS and get them from the beginning.
5) Lastly, this past year, UT Chatt lost by 19 to NC State in the Tournament. We lost to NC State by 22....at home!! I'm not sure we could have beat UT Chatt last year. If we can grab 3 of their best 4 players, and also get 4 other really good players in the portal, I'm all for it!

I pretty much agree with your assessment. You speak more highly of the talent relative to the overall portal than I do. I will say he has gotten a lot of talented transfers who are more likely to buy into the team concept than the typical portal player. His style is going to be very defensive oriented and he's brought in the right kind of talent for that.

Rather naive. We smashed every socon opponent we played. We beat etsu by 23 and it wasn't close. Of course we'd have won the socon.
People only saw our last few games and based it on that. Our 2 best players were out. We were playing People way out of position.

He has brought 3 players from Chattanooga, arguably their best returning players. I doubt there will be anymore from there or anywhere else . I don't think any of the UTC players will be starters this year barring injuries with the possible exception of Kohn and I understand she has work to do on the defensive end. They're good subs that will help him install his culture heavy on defense and efficient 3 pt shooting.
