Is this going to ruin Nico's career...?

Or is he going to get an ever bigger contract with a better team?

I hope he goes to some bad FCS school so other players can learn what not to do. I hate seeing stuff like this in college football. This is not the NFL.

All spitballing of course. I don’t think it will ruin it but I can’t imagine a highly touted team offering for more than a backup role this late in the game. Typically coming out of spring game knowing who starter is—though not always. Will be interesting. I do wonder if it’s all him though. I hate this day and age and perhaps it is mostly him but if someone promised him something and didn’t keep it, I understand getting pissy. But I also understand Tenn moving on if he’s not going to show up for practice as if he’s some proven commodity.

A team like FSU (as one example) who is not happy with their QB situation coming out of spring ball will offer him a nice deal but not likely more than he would have made at UT IMO

Would FSU actually hop on the "Big Dave" train again after they just got taken for a ride with another of his relatives?

The only reason Tenn is moving on is because they can't afford it. Perhaps everyone will learn a lesson from it.

Probably an agent in his ear trying to get themselves a bigger payday.

Someone will cough up some nice money. There is always someone in a position to win at all costs.

He will go to another reasonably big time school at the worst and get paid well. I wonder if it will create character issue warnings for the NFL one day though? Bottom line though, if he plays really well and crushes in the field, it won't slow him much if at all other than possibly with endorsements down the road, if people even remember by that stage.

My own take, FWIW, is that this is a cautionary tale of what happens when a player takes things to extremes. He had an inflated view of his own monetary value/player impact. It's really that simple. So it's more a matter of FAFO...and Nico is in the find out stage.

I could trust him. He seems like a guy that can poison a locker room. Some bottom of the conference team willing to win at all costs will want him.

That would be perfect to illustrate today’s college football if he ended up at high and mighty Notre Dame. NBC would gloss him up like Joe Montana.

NC State and Dangerous Dave were first in my mind too***

It would be for the good of the sport if it did. The sport needs serious help, and players who are getting 2.4 million dollars a year, a scholarship, and are a starter on a team that was in the playoff's last year need some accountability when they don't honor their contract and bail on their teammates.

Would set a precedent for College Football ( aka: semipro ) if no one picked him up. Sooner or later this will happen. Classic case of thinking you are worth more than you really are.
