They were kind of in a hard place, both the starting QB and backup transferred out and left only one scholarship QB on roster, I believe.

They were bringing in Tulane's Mensah regardless. That is why Murphy was pretty much asked you might better leave and Grayson Loftus transfered to Charlotte.

That quote from the write up indicates it

Sources have indicated the Blue Devils may have moved on from QB Maalik Murphy, who ended up at Oregon State, a cutthroat move after Murphy delivered one of the best seasons in recent Duke quarterback history -- and a further indication of where college football has arrived.

Call me an old fart, or whatever you want, but it's not the same game anymore, and the saddest part is, it never will be the same again.

I’m just glad we were around to see our 3 NCs won in the traditional era of college football.

I’m 72 as well. Agree with all of what as been said about the state of college football is changed and sad. With that said, I have been adamantly opposed to NIL. However, last week I had a change of mindset. I committed to donating to our NIL. My view point is we all don’t like the state of college football but that is the way it is right now. This is the way the game is currently, like it or not. So, I choose to support helping our Tigers in the current environment. Go Tigers🐅🐅.

It doesn't matter if you are an old fart or a young buck, you simply have to accept the NIL and enjoy the games which have not changed even one tiny bit. Football is football.

I understand your point. However, when you don’t care as much you don’t watch as much. That is what happened to me with the NFL and I’m kind of starting to feel the same way about college football.

It may go on to be just as popular or even more so. Time will tell. I’m just personally not as excited about it as I used to be.

Anyone that says its the same has lost their mind! If you just watch the game and don't care who is on the field, maybe similar. But fans that used to wait for signing day hitting refresh every 5min, knew the stats of every recruit before they signed, invested time to know recruits back stories before they signed, had opportunities to socialize with favorite players at some point over their 4yrs at the school, this Sir is not the same it used to be and you have to be very oblivious to what college football meant to many alum.

Pay for play only fields a team at you team of fandom. The connection to the players is dwindling daily.

No...its ruined the sport...I just shake my head at people who advocated for this BS...Especially as we were getting dismantled by a team with an unlimited pot of money (Texas). Its crazy these yuppies are ok with sacrificing their own fan hood for that...Then want Swinney fired when he cant beat a team who spends over $30m fielding a team.

So stupid. Dang Cade is worth more than that. You say you are worth 8 mill and you go to Duke. Money definitely the deciding factor and not winning because he will not win anything there unless Spurrier comes back to Duke.
