It absolutely is. Put Ryan day at Clemson and we are six and six. Dude is at a university that is practically given a loaded roster every year and can’t do jack with it. He finally was gifted the most talented roster in all of college football and still lost two games in the regular season he shouldn’t have. They may very well win a NC this season but it isn’t because of Ryan day.
Dabo is second only to Kirby and I doubt Kirby has success as Clemson.

Kirby would be successful at Clemson. Our graduation rate would be cut in half and we would be paying out a lot in civil liability claims but he would win football games.

If Kirby coached Clemson to a national championship but the graduation rate dropped, would you consider that success for Kirby? For Clemson?

If kirby smart graduated more players and promoted a morally sound culture of collegiate athletes but won fewer games how would ga fans react?

Fans would be less pleased. Kirby is paid an enormous salary to win championships. The same is true for Dabo.

He’s only ever coached at Shingle schools. He steps into the door at UGA and they already have a history of attracting elite talent. Had he come to Clemson when Dabo took over I have a feeling he’d try to recruit the way all big time programs do and he’d struggle. We had to go about it differently to set Clemson apart. You can’t just go head to head with the big programs doing the same thing.

I'm not sure what you mean about recruiting differently. Dabo won his championships the same way Kirby and Saban did - with elite talent. Do you believe Kirby couldn't have recruited guys like TL and Wilkins to Clemson?

The 20 was for NIL for both current and new players, not just portal.
And Clemson has that amount available for it as well. Remember what Dabo has said himself. No one will have more money than Clemson after the limit is put in place, which is close to the same amount.
We just haven’t been using it all. Yet.
But we have still been top 15 to 20 in NIL rankings even so. So tired of this Clemson doesn’t have money false narrative crap that’s getting slung around here.

In spite of that Clemson still won their conference and made it to the CFP without a single Portal Player. Now Dabo has rectified that poor choice by bringing in Tom Allen. Cry more.

I do see people lamenting the fact that Dabo has been slow to change.
“Making the CFP” is a funny thing to tout since we weren’t a top 12 team and only made it because we won our crummy conference.
While it was fun to be in the playoffs, the goal is to be one of the best teams in the country and compete for a national championship. We are clearly not close to that at this time, but hopefully we will get there soon. Dabo deciding to hire a real DC seems like a great step in that direction, as does actually using the portal to get meaningful players.

Having great players is important…not their source! I don’t care if Dani uses the portal or not…I’m confident he’ll put together a stronger team than last year…it won’t be due to the 3 portal gets…but to our coaching and strategies and tactics. And if we don’t get a natty, I’ll still support developing good men over that!
Go Tigers!!

First of all, the ranking isn’t about raising young men, it’s about winning at a high level.
Second, he hasn’t had any great teams since 2020.
And third, he has plenty of money at his disposal.

Drops one spot in a top-ten list? It's a great list, & he's on it yet again.
Plus he's even ahead of other coaches who went further in the playoff this year like James Franklin (& all the rest either beat us head-to-head or are in the national title game).
I'd change the headline to, "Dabo Swinney appears in yet another top-ten head coaches list including ahead of a quarterfinal coach," but perhaps good news is often bad for engagement so I get it, but it still feels weird.

Time to prove who’s the best coach with his third National Championship & make the SEC lose their minds while your at it in 2025!
Those other coaches just bring more business and clicks, that’s what makes the 💰💵 world go around right now. The DEI is threatening to destroy the whole thing.
God is #1 coach period, he made the world championship first!1!!!!!1!!11

This is laughable. The fact that swinney is not in the top 2 of this list tells me that this guy doesn’t understand want it takes to win. The Dabo and Kirby have won multiple national championship. They Both have beating the “ The GOAT Nick Saban “ to do that. It’s time to write off some of these media guys and their stupid hot takes

What's not to care about?
Not only is he still in the top-ten but even ahead of other coaches who went 2 games further in this year's playoff outright?
Plus it was only a one-spot drop.
I think we get triggered by the headlines rather than something celebrating him making yet another top-ten list is all, but it's still worth celebrating and caring about, you know? Most people would do anything to have a coach on this list.

I wonder about a lot of people who post on Tigernet. They act as if the sky is falling because we haven’t played for a national championship in several years. I’m 79 years old and graduated in ‘67. I can assure you that for most of the years between’63, when I arrived at Clemson, and with the exception of a few of the Ford years, I would have been ecstatic to have seen Clemson have the successes we have had, including the last 3-4 years. Some parts of this fan base have become spoiled and act like Alabama and OSU fans who think they are, because of who they are, supposed to win the championship every year. Ford won it in ‘81. I don’t remember anyone thinking he was not successful when he never won or played for it again. IMO, we are extremely fortunate to have a one time little known coach leading our football program. Suppose we had done what so many of our “football genius “ fans had wanted, and done a national search for someone to replace Bowden. Some other college fans may be grumbling about how Dabo is behind the times, is out of touch, blah, blah, blah. I thank God that I had the privilege of living through the Watson/Lawrence years with the talent they had surrounding them , and I am confident that we can be champions again, but not every year. Go Tigers.

The next biggest jokes are Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley being inside the Top 20.
Along with Norvell, they represent doing less - more often - with more at great programs. All three belong on a ‘Worst Underachievers’ list.
(Remember that Norvell has had exactly one [1] outstanding season since arriving in Tallahassee. Norvell doesn’t belong in this list any more than Ed Orgeron belinged on a ‘great coaches’ list.)

As most rankings these days, it is what have you done for me lately. Seems easy enough to look at wins and losses to determine these rankings, if you are lazy. Dig deeper if you want to really analyze the best coaches at their craft.
