There is reason for some optimism, but there is certainly work to be done and changes to be made. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and New Year to everyone. (Please be Santa Claus Dabo and deliver us a better DC).

Good morning!
The punting and punt return units, the FG/PAT units, and Kickoff return unit need to be reevaluated personnel wise and coaching wise.

The Strength and Conditioning program also needs to be reevaluated. Injuries over the past three years have been increasing and have definitely affected our seasons. Injuries are often linked to offseason conditioning.

Defensive philosophy needs to be evaluated. Sometimes it seemed that we didn’t know what we were as a defensive unit. I can understand being a “multiple defense “ , but you have to be able to hang your hat on your base defense at times.

Lastly, I understand wanting to rotate players to keep them fresh, but there comes a time when you need to keep your best players on the field to win the game. Sometimes it seemed that we rotated players in for no rhyme or reason. We can’t do this anymore just to keep everyone happy and worry about transfers. Our staff has repeatedly emphasized that you earn your time on the field. The best need to be on the field when it matters most, not because it’s in our rotation of players. This has happened on both sides of the ball.

I’m done. Thanks for listening. Have a great Sunday!

If that stubborn hard head of Dabo's will do what must be done regardless of how painful that may be for him on a personal level bc his job is supposed to be #1 what's best for the team as a whole first and there isn't a second choice.

In My Personal Opinion, Dabo must get help for the defense in whatever way will be best for the whole team. Then maybe if necessary, bring in 1 or two more stud O Lineman. I mean if Dabo is very serious about making our Tiger FB team very competitive again and show the money machine givers of IPTAY and the fan base that he is serious, making staff changes or player changes shouldn't ever get in the way of what's best for the team regardless of what that may be.

So, if Dabo does what needs or should be done in the off season to make his FB program great again, I wouldn't fear anything or any team that our schedule has lined up for next season, (depending on Cade returning) and that includes LSU coming to the real Death Valley.

I'm pretty sure that the most of Tiger nation will agree that if we would've had BV on our side lines this season, we're probably setting at 13-1 and getting ready for our next playoff game with Arizona.

As we have seen throughout the season, even the best teams will slip up and lose a game they should have won, but there is no way that I believe we could have beat UGA the first game of this season with Goodwin or with a new DC starting a new season with a new team against the UGA team that we faced on August 31st 2024, but I do believe that with a better defense we would be undefeated as of today!!!

I think you hit the nail on the head. Our run defense has to start with the interior line has to do a better job. Tackling has to improve as well.

Totally agree about our S&C program. During our epic run we had relatively few injuries & left injured opposing players littering the field. Now it’s us so something is lacking there. Likewise we were a good second half team then, wearing the other team out to keep up with us the first half then physically crushing them in the second. The 4th Quarter hype video no longer seems to reply

As long as Wes is out and we bring in an experienced DC that can recruit and teach 90% of these guys proper tackling technique.

What is all this BS everyone keeps spouting off about "backing into" the championship game? Clemson earned its way into that game. We lost only 1 game in the conference. The fact that Miami lost 2 weeks after we had finished conference play does not mean that we backed into it. We set the bar, they failed to meet it. End of story.

A 56 yard field goal by a freshman kicker I would call sheer luck, and anybody that watched the game and the final FG kick, they saw that the kick barely made it over the cross bar!!! Losing to the coots killed our chances for the playoffs. Cade scrambling 50 yards + or -, then a freshman kicker making that 56 yard FG was sheer luck.

Yes, We backed into the playoffs with our luck and by Syracuse beating Miami. Without Syracuse help, all of our luck prior wouldn't have gotten us into playoffs... Most all Top FB head coaches will say that championship are won with luck on your side, and they are to hard to win without luck!!!

Hey, all the time, you do realize our kicker is one of the greatest high school kickers ever, right? And a long run by a great running quarterback! Neither of those were luck!! And a win by a very good Syracuse team at the dome was not luck! We deserved and earned our right to be in the ACC championship game and I really do get tired of reading your crap!!!

I agree with you. Using his logic every team with the exception of Oregon and SMU backed into their conference championship game. They all had to rely on someone else losing. Yet you never hear the media talking about Penn St. or Georgia backing in.

I agree we got in the back door by Miami’s unlikely 2 losses but we got there because we only had 1 loss. I do not agree that the field goal was by luck. It was by the freshman who has worked his butt off to be good enough to make a 56 yd FG under pressure. Don’t downgrade his performance.

One minute it’s ‘we’re not good enough because Dabo won’t use the portal’ but the next minute it’s ’we lucked into winning ACC Championship because our (non-portal) FG kicker (highest rated HS recruit at kicker in the country) made a sheer luck 56 yard FG.’

The only philosophical consistency about you is that you don’t have firm beliefs other than ‘Dabo Man Bad.’

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Youre calling a 56 yard field goal *sheer luck* ???

It takes a decade of training to hit field goals of more than 50 yards accurately with no pressure. That includes accuracy and leg strength.

Now add in the intensity of the moment … to win a championship and punch a ticket to the CFB Playoffs … and you have to have ice water in your veins to nail that kick like Nolan did!

From 56 yards, the odds of making that field goal is 63% (for NFL kickers - see link below) and he cleared the crossbar (which is 10 ft from the ground) by about 6 feet. Not only that, but his kick was perfectly in the middle of the goalposts which are 18.5 feet wide. If he hits the ball more than about 5 degrees to the left or the right of dead center, the field goal is no good.

So maybe you should evaluate the situation with more than *feelings* and a hunch before denigrating the efforts of a top-notch college kicker.

Go Tigers!

My friend you have no clue. The only thing you got right is “freshman kicker”. How many times do you think he practiced that kick in full pads at full speed with the One’s trying to block it? You think he hadn’t worked his butt off to be able to do exactly the same thing? And you call it luck? If the SMU player who almost got a hand on it had in fact blocked it would you have called that “great effort” or “bad luck”?

And by the way given the trajectory of the ball it cleared the crossbar by at least 3 ft if not 5 and was maybe a foot to the right of center so plenty of room to be off a bit either way. Was that luck or skill? Even the announcer said it would have been good from 60.

You’re very entertaining with your constant skepticism, so I do consistently read your comments. But you’re either THE MOST derogatory of all Clemson fans or just a total troll.

I completely agree. Our record in ACC play included only 1 loss and everyone else but SMU has at least 2. We earned our way into the ACC Championship game AND won it plain and simple.

I think the 'backing in' comments were mainly people feeling like after we lost to USuCk the we did not deserve to be ACC champs because of a Miami loss. Hard to be exciting about moving on after that embarrassing loss.

I agree. Backing into anything means we would have gotten to the ACC title game by someone else qualifying first and being disqualified. If Miami had lost it two games weeks earlier would anyone say we backed into the ACC title game? No, we would have been going into the SC game as a lock for the ACC title and the loss to them would have been chocked up to something that just happens.

Hitting that kick to win against SMU was not luck. It is skill with the ability to focus inspite of the pressue.

Luck is defined as good things that happen that are out of your control. There is nothing that happened in that last 16 seconds that was luck. Each player had to perform up to expectations. It is why you play the game hard right up to the end.

Aside from that, who's to say we would not have beat SMU in overtime?

I hate losing, but I'm really proud of this team. You could tell they gave it all they had, and it was REALLY good to see Adam Randall get some action at RB. That was a great spark our team needed, and you could tell the coaches trusted him and wanted to get him the ball. He earned it.
