He has plenty of experience, including as a successful DC as well as a head coach. He will relate well to the players and be the knowledgeable leader they need. I also love the fact that he is devoted to Christ and his family.
Great hire, Dabo!

I've been down that slide before. It is very fast and slippery

^^^ POTD ^^^ Thanks Judge!!!!
I'd like to take the moment to give AD Neff a shoutout for giving ALL our coaches the tools and autonomy to make these decisions.

I think the fact that we now have 3 people on staff with head coaching experience HAS to be beneficial. Obviously Dabo is the man, but I believe he's humble enough to change if he sees the benefit. Luke and Allen may give him that opportunity?

Agreed, I believe these last few underachieving seasons have humbled Dabo.

He didn't have it all figured out after all, and like all of us, had more he could learn and improve upon. To his credit, he has pivoted and has made some outstanding changes to the program recently (hiring better coaches, using the portal, embracing NIL more, etc.).

Yes, but I am not okay with them having autonomy to make horrible decisions

like hiring position coaches and coordinators who are completely unqualified for the position. I realize it's a tough balancing act to give coaches (especially top coaches like Dabo) enough leeway to implement what they want without giving them too much power. I don't know the answer, but I would like to think that someone would have stepped in and said absolutely not when Dabo suggested promoting an analyst to be defensive coordinator.

I m glad he has a good bit autonomy. Some hires just don't work out. Same thing could happen with a coach with experience. Dabo also promoted Scott and Elliott, that worked out fine. Neither had been a OC before. I can see the reasoning giving Wes a shot. Years under BV. It just didn't work as Dabo or us had hoped. And he corrected that mistake. It happens.

I've thought about that same thing many times, but it is hard to question a man with the record he has as HC at Clemson, you almost have to let him do it his way and just mark down his wins and his losses, and at present time his wins outweigh his losses by a wide margin!!!

I take some exception to all those who think that every coaching move or hire that doesn't work out is a mistake. You take chances in just about every decision you make, both in life and in whatever field you happen to be in. I have made decisions that I have earned from, but were they all mistakes because the outcome wasn't what I wanted? A learning experience is not necessarily a mistake. Was it a mistake that we hired a coach that was never a offensive or defensive coordinator, like Dabo. If it was we need to make more mistakes like that.

I feel Dabo has done a tremendous job with these last 2 or 3 hires with OC, offensive line and Def Coordinator. I would like to see Riley help Cade to up his game even more.
