Dang guys just happened to forget how to coach. One way to cover your #### I guess. Fact is they do not currently have good players. Fix that problem and those coaches would look like heroes like last year.

Obviously, when you miss on portal players at certain positions, the team will throw in the towel!

Norvell has put them on notice that they won't be at FSU next season. IMO that was fair enough and it allows them to start looking before other teams start firing coaches. Also, IMO it's just as much Norvell's fault that his team has done so bad by him allowing so many players to be taken from the portal.
I think that it would have worked out better for him and those coaches he's firing if they would've just taken a couple of got to have them right now players from the portal and went to work developing the new signee true freshman and red shirt freshman. If he would have done that it wouldn't have looked so bad on him and his coaches for losing a few games bc everyone would have understood that their team wasn't going to be that good bc of all the players that left from graduation and the NFL.
With the way that it turned out for Norvell trying to build another elite team from the portal that failed, it kind of goes along with what Dabo has been saying, if he can't get players out of the portal that are as good or better than what he already had, that he would be wasting time with portal guys!!!

He will lose at least 20 players to the portal. He will bring in a new group of portal players and pray that it works out. What a mess he has created.
Train wrecks like this is why Dabo gets paid 11 million because you want see this happen at Clemson.

Yep, he better suck it up and get busy developing the players he will be left with at the end of the season along with the ones in his newly signed class that's talented enough to play as true freshman, and if he doesn't, the new hires will be left without the HC that hired them bc Norvell will be fired, and the new HC will most likely fire everybody that Norvell just hired and bring in his own coaching staff from his previous job!!! IMHO, Norvell is setting on one of the hottest seats in college FB bc if he doesn't have a good season next year, he will be fired bc FSU is looking for a new home in another conference!!!

Translation of the press release: as head coach I set in motion this disaster of a season. Since I have a huge buyout, the administration is forcing me to fire coaches I’ve trusted for many years in a kabuki show for the boosters who aren’t willing to step up and pay my buyout. It sucks for my coaches and their families, but also kind of sucks for me because at present I am at a loss on how to get this turned around.

This will be seen as "Norvell made the right decision after they maul Chas South," hence the timing.
If Norvell realizes that he needs to build from the inside out (recruited players) vs outside in (port-o-let players), he will be out next year. It takes a couple of years to just build the foundation and I don't believe he will be given a couple of years to do that.
Ps: So how many NIL $$$ did it cost to have a 2/10 or 3/9 team? Estimates??

Well this is the poster child or some might say growing pains of college football today. Live by the sword and die by the sword and save your butt by firing others to start with. In FSU lineage Jimbo tried that at Texas and bought the best team ever and where is he now?
Well to be honest he is rich but he is also out of work. Bring on Norvell who had great success by buying players only when things got tough they got going and the result is what you see today.
It's the highs and lows of the portal and NIL, boom or bust. No better example than FSU in the last 2 years.
Dabo has chosen a different path and many including myself have critiqued him on this, especially when we lose to teams that are not up to what we believe our standards are.
We spent several incredible years with incredible players and only one rival, going 2 and 2 overall and 2 and 1 in national championships with Alabama our only rival at the national level.
Honestly I doubt that's going to happen again with any 2 teams with the rise and fall of teams based on the $.
We don't like to say it when we lose games but our worst year has been winning 9 not winning one like Florida State and there's a lot to be said for that.
I just hope we can get enough players that won't be developed, want to go to college and want to graduate and maybe enough of them are the Hunter Renfro's of the future that we can continue to be successful.

Not an FSU fan, but if a head coach wants to keep on being the head coach he has to be able to embrace that fact that heads have to roll when performance is not up to snuff.
As a caveat...Clemson losing a couple of games does not mean a wholesale house cleaning like this is in order, but perhaps the living room needs a good sweeping.
