Evening Tigers!
Haven’t seen a ton of your games this year, but I’ve certainly seen enough in the past to understand what a tall task is waiting for our squad.
Was able to catch a little bit of the FSU game last night though, and Will Shipley is a scary dude. Runs with a purpose and hits 5th gear in a hurry.
We’re pretty beat up on D right now. But we’ve played strong, regardless of who’s been on the other sideline.
Offensively - Anae & Beck from Virginia have been tremendous. Our offense has been much more efficient and effective than in recent years (since Dungey really).
I hold no illusions as to where we stand, but hey, that’s why you play the game. Looking forward to rolling the ball out there and seeing where the chips fall!

Lol - Upstate NY. About 15 minutes outside of Syracuse.
I think we can all agree on one thing - NJ sucks.

You will find there are geographically challenged fans here.
Had a roommate at Clemson from Manlius, NY back in the day as well. Visited a few times. Upstate NY has some very beautiful places.
Welcome aboard for the week. I look forward to a good game.

Thank you, looking forward to it!
I’m glad you got to come up, Manlius is close to where we are. We get lumped in with NYC a lot when we head South. As you saw, quite a bit different.

But that has nothing to do with the OP’s post, so I’m not sure why you brought it up.
You seem overly sensitive about this.

I grew up in Binghamton, NY (please don't hold it against me!) about an hour south if Syracuse. Applied to several schools for an Architecture major and was accepted, but found this school in SC that was in the top 3 of Schools of Architecture in the country at the time, was accepted, but told me I could major in anything but Architecture. I wrote back and said that's the only major I'm interested in, life-long dream, etc., and that I was scheduled to take my AAT (Architectural Aptitude Test) at Syracuse Univ in February - which I took in Slocum Hall, their school of Arch., and absolutely aced it. They replied and said, ok sure, you can major in Arch. I ended up with a double major in Arch. and English... and received the finest education at Clemson that God and the USA has ever offered.
I live in Spartanburg and have a number of friends here that hail from Syracuse (ironically all strong Tiger fans, but with a heart-felt sympathy for the wrong orange... I guess there's no place like home.) For the last fifty years my home is the Upstate of SC. I graduated and never left (but for a five year hiatus), and I reared (not raised) my family here in S'burg, and expect to die here, God willing. I have a lot of history with Syracuse, but far more with Clemson, and my blood runs orange - the real orange!
This should be a barn burner of a game - who woulda' thought? - and I hope our Tigers are doing the burning! I appreciate a friendly post from an opposing fan, and wish the best for SU in all games but this one next Saturday.
Go Tigers!!!

Both of our coordinators are new and are not qualified to be coaches at the power 5 level. We only win if we have more talent, and the hill won’t be full. Also, we don’t use the portal and Dabo is anti NIL. We were just out coached by Mike Norvell and we are dropping in the polls. Let me be the first to congratulate you on your victory.

Thanks for summing it all up for us, Francis. We are in deep trouble since our defense sucs this year. Having a head coach who is just a manager but knows nothing about coaching just puts the kiss of death on the situation.

certainly a much different game in Memorial Stadium - tough place to win
death valley is a huge edge - won last 37
road games are already tough - dv is tougher
I would play any team at home tomorrow and be confident

Can’t disagree there, Death Valley speaks for itself and there’s no doubt about it, we’ve only been on the road once this year so far… at UConn nonetheless, so no road tests for sure.
Interested to see how our squad responds when it’s us struggling with the crowd noise.

Yep, Clemson is #1 in Nation in consecutive wins at home in DV..
Oct 16, 2022, 8:29 PM
|
|
that's THE Original Football Stadium called Death Valley..not LSU who surprisingly acknowledges that fact in their football game program brochure since they were Deaf Valley due to breaking early decimal noise levels (at night with 90,000 drunk Cajuns yelling!).
Also, Clemson Football is #1 in consecutive wins home or away..but we know how those glossy numbers can fall any game!
Welcome CUSE Orangemen Fan..enjoy the beautiful campus, maybe tour John C Calhoun's Mansion at top of hill outside the stadium and maybe hit the world famous The ESSO Club for a chilled beer while drinking it in parking lot with hundreds of friendly Red Necks listening to a local band yards away..
and then walk just 2 blocks back to Death Valley to see the most exciting 25 seconds entry in college ball (per Brett Musberger) for a great game & Clemson hospitality!
Go TiGERS!

Never knew Syracuse had a fan base that cared. I strongly dislike your coach, seems fishy that guys take late shots and twist guys up every time Clemson plays them. Hope for an injury free game and a blowout win for Clemson, after that hope the orange men win out despite the fact I think Babers is a dirty coach.

I feel that way about Dave Clawson not so much about Babers, when he first showed up on scene I felt that way but some of the injuries and eye brow raising moments vs that team make me biased against him.

You got it, been sitting in that Done for over 30 years, good days and bad. More bad than good over the past 20 for sure. But some silver linings for sure.
Interesting you feel that way. There’s some schools we have similar thoughts about, not Clemson though. I didn’t know we had that reputation, and I’ve never even really thought we would be.

Well yall have literally knocked a Clemson QB out of the game like every other year. Watson, Kelly Bryant, Trevor Lawerence all had games where they took questionable hits and/or got their extremities twisted in a questionable manner.
Not a fan of seeing that on a consistent basis.

Just a quick FYI, cuz I'm pretty sure you're like 25 with that statement. Until a few years ago, our programs were peers. 1 title each and we destroyed you in our bowl in the 90's. Now don't get me wrong, we are of course not peers anymore. But we aren't Duke or Carolina. We are top 25 program all time. We've just happened to suck for a whole generation. So part of me forgives your ignorance. But of course we care.

You too!
It’s #1 on our list, tough as we’ve still got young ones right now. We plan on hitting most road games in the next 4-5 years.
We want to do our best to make it a night game there.

Thank you, and I’d expect nothing less!
I’m a realist, but I also won’t lie, every kickoff I’m hopeful for the best!
Depth is coming to the forefront for us right now, especially on D. I’m really interested to see where it goes.

You said this in 2017 and lost You then doubled down and said the same statment in DV in 2018 and barely won in the final seconds. You guys are an amazing team and the cream of the crop. But these "we're gonna crush you" posts become embarrassing year after year. Have you not watched the games?

Welcome back after 8 years. You skipped a few games...

I've seen exactly one Syracuse game this year. Most UNimpressive. I will say NC St not having their qb Leary is the only reason your squad got the W Saturday. Clemson coming off a definite win, but didn't finish as they wanted to. This equals an asswhooping being laid down on Syracuse come Saturday from some mighty pissed off Tigers! Nothing for you to be ashamed of. We're just better. Welcome to Death Valley.

I like the confidence! You’ll have to excuse us if we don’t forfeit though!
The talent is evident, and I’m sure there’s depth behind it. Ours is being tested now, I’m excited to see where it lands.
Some uncharacteristic turnovers against NC State kept it tighter than it should’ve been. Regardless, it was their backup, nothing we can do about that. I’ll take all the W’s we can get!

Welcome to T-net for the week!!!

Thank you for whipping Nancy Tate last week . . . like all coot losses, I cherish the day the pack loses!!!
You won’t be sorry whenever you come to our place for a night game . . . wise decision to hold out for one . . . I personally hate nooners, but then again I have 4.5 hours to drive to get to The Valley!
Enjoy your time “jawing” back and forth . . . please come back next week (win or lose) to share your thoughts!!!
As for my thoughts on the game: ‘Cuse is always blessed with speed and grittiness . . . they will not give up or lay down . . . you will punch us in the mouth early . . . but we will recover . . . the crowd WILL BE relentless (but not as much as it is at a night game!) . . . the crowd will cause you problems occasionally . . . You will not catch us sleeping . . . we will not be looking forward to another game . . . beating you IS important to us . . . you will get our best shot . . . we like and are use to winning . . . but winning at Home special to all of us!!!
After the game . . . We will “GATHER @ THE PAW” . . . regardless of the outcome, we will come celebrate the day with our warriors and each other . . . you are not special to us, so don’t get the “big head” when we gather . . . we do it because we are family and because our forefathers taught us to do so (and I am 66 yrs old . . . we’ve been doing it a long time) . . . it is how we conclude our GameDay Experience.
Thank you again Finwad32 for joining us . . . check out bdrechs® thread about Syracuse Limericks and write your own . . . bet you can make us laugh!!!
See you in The Valley as you watch on tv . . . I’ll be the one wearing Orange!!! Sköl ?

Your take...but was NCSt defense supposed to be great?
BTW Cuse was down 5 starters and a couple key reserves so please reconsider the lazy narrative.

on Sunday...Woof. Talk about some mediocre offense to go with that bumbling D. I mean I already said Syracuse once again has a qb with a horse shoe in his trousers. Better lucky than skill I suppose.
I'm glad NC St without their main man make y'all cuse fans feel all puffy. Makes it even more enjoyable when Clemson makes a statement with your 'wrong orange' assses Saturday.

I get it, but we were down 7 defensive starters at one point last night from our Week 1 depth chart. We’ve had almost a season ending injury per week.
We’re not built with that kind of depth yet.

Good to hear from you Finn! Congrats on being Bowl eligible which I'm sure is your main goal as a program right now. Hope for a good game, players staying healthy, and Tigers win!
What is the story on Syracuse Basketball and when Boheim is going to ride into the sunset? Can't believe I see some preseason rankings of them in top half of the ACC. Very young at key positions and not much depth. What do you think of Clemson under Coach Brownell? Think both programs could be at crossroads for each of their levels?

Most posters on here are glad to have you, as long as you're respectful.
Many will call you a "Coot", but most will do it as a friendly jest.
A vocal few will try to pick a fight. Don't bother. "You might as well argue with a fencepost" as my mother used to say. They're just miserable people, by and large.
Last time I checked, football was a game and games are supposed to be fun, or at least distracting.
Enjoy the game!

Glad to see Cuse becoming a factor in the ACC. Obviously I don’t want them defeating my tigers as we want to play for the ACC championship. I’ve visiting upstate NY and it’s a beautiful place and not too much different than our area. It is a wrong concept to think all of NY is like NYC. Your coaching is very good and your QB is outstanding. The running back is as good as any in the country. That tall receiver is as good as any. We are not quite the team we were under Lawrence. I know my fellow fans will get mad but our coordinators are learning on the job and usually we don’t have a knock out punch. I miss our wide open attack that we use to have. A number of years ago under Chad Morris(former O Cord) we put 49 pts on you guys in the first half. Those days are gone and we are leaving teams hanging around with a chance to win as last year at your place. Clemson fans are some of the best in the country and except a few show great sportsmanship. It’s a great place to watch a game. No fans unless one of our screwballs would ever be rude to the opposition. Most if the places we go are much different. It’s hard to take your kids. Good luck but not on a win?

With Dino at the helm ..Syracuse is a team you have to beat … They won’t beat themselves…
We have yet to play a complete game this season….4 quarters of complimentary football …
If we have championship aspirations (and obviously we do) - we need to start putting together a full 4 quarters of offense, defense, and special teams…
Hoping that begins this weekend…

Once went to a FB game at Archibold Stadium (? Cuse vs Penn State). Saw Ernie Davis play...scary good. Visited Elmira last summer and visited his grave site, as well as that of Mark twain!
Once partied at the FI (Fayetteville Inn) and The Orange: best "Watering Holes' back then. Also was in Cuse in December...beyond cold. We had a snowball fight on Lake Onondaga@ BBBRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
Spent time in Cooperstown (Bassett Hospital) where I was an Intern after medical school! Also very cold!!!!!!!!!!!
I had two roommates in college who were from Lyons, NY. One played HS basketball with Mr. Boeheim! Loved your 2003 NC!
Also raced at Watkins Glen in the GT-40 on my handle pic.
Grew up on Lake Chautauqua, about 30 miles from Erie, Pa. Back in the day, summers lasted fort about 2 weeks!!
Go Orange, but go Bigger Tigers!!
Nice to make your acquaintance.
Live large and good luck.

We lived in Erie for about 10 years. Quite the eye opener for a boy from the Lowcountry of SC. Went to the Finger Lakes area mostly around Watkins Glen several times. Beautiful part of the country. We were always there Memorial Day weekend and I want to see it in the fall. My wife fell in love with the wine from a place called Dr. Konstantine Frank’s winery in Hammondsport. We are hoping to go to the Syracuse game next year and spend some time around the Finger Lakes in the fall.

Hopefully we won’t have cancel the game early Saturday

If a couple kids get covid we might have to pull a FSU and cancel the game to keep both teams undefeated!
Hopefully the Syracuse players don’t bring covid down to SC, at least we have a bye week to recover before we head up to South Bend. Also, it’s going to be tough if we have to play our backup Cade Klubnik or Hunter Johnson who’s a great insurance plan by Dabo.
I’m just kidding it’s safe in Clemson but hopefully our defense is playing to it’s potential because your offense is scary good in my opinion.
Your LB’s are fast too!
This should be an awesome game, Clemson is a safe space we will love the Syracuse fans to death and send them back with a bless your hearts at the end of the night.
I hope we can get a big lead and hold it through the whole game, look for us to run the ball a lot with Shipley and Mafah!
The crowd will be very loud, to bad this isn’t a night game as it should be. I’ll be at a big horse show in Dallas tuning our kids up for the National Championships in two weeks in Murfreesboro, TN.
This is a game I was hoping to be at but our schedule changed so I’ll need a bunch of help from Tiger fans because me and my family are very loud!
Tigers 42 Syracuse 27
It’s going to be a great game, a hard fought game and we will respect Syracuse and their great team/coach!

Boyfriend grew up in the Hudson River Valley. Attended Syracuse one year before his family moved to Kentucky. Got his undergrad in Landscape architecture at UK. Taking him to his first Clemson game this weekend. He'll be wearing Clemson attire and a Tiger Paw tire cover is on our new Jeep Wrangler. He knows what's good for him, lol!

Welcome Cuse Fan.
I’m in IT and worked in De Witt and Lake Onondaga for 18 months during an acquisition. Lots of good memories from the area and loved working with the Syracuse people. I saw one Clemson/Syracuse game in the Carrier Dome in 2013.
Glad you guys are having a good year. Good luck the rest of the way, excluding this Saturday.

Its pretty simple from my perspective. If the officials take a week off Clemson will by 20+, if not and the flag fest continues, it'll be a 1 score game.

Welcome and hope the real Orangemen(Tigers) win comfortably.
NY is a beautiful state once you cleave off the SE tip. I spent some time this summer in Clayton on the St Lawrence River and also in the Adirondacks--gorgeous very rural country.
I also enjoyed my time staying in Skaneateles when I watched Clemson vs Syracuse twice. The Finger Lakes are really nice.
In a couple of years, come south, you'll be treated well at the Valley.

My first introduction to Syracuse was rather unpleasant. I still shiver when it rains! But without Donovan McNabb at QB, this game should be a lot closer than that one.
You seem like a nice fellow. Move South and save yourself.

You'll get good and bad (read: awful) fans with every school, unfortunately. One thing I've noticed since the advent of sports message boards? Every fanbase is pretty much exactly the same, regardless of the sport, regardless of whether it's pro or college, etc. Gonna pull a Belloq from Indiana Jones and say, "I am but a shadowy reflection of you" is the way I look at every single fanbase compared to my own. I respect the hell out of Clemson, and root for you guys whenever you're not playing Syracuse. Living in Texas, myself, I've come to learn what truly obnoxious football fandom looks like, and I really don't see too much of that or hear too much about it when it comes to Clemson fans (I've never had the good fortune of attending a Syracuse/Clemson game in person, as I've been down here in Tejas since 2005 and don't make it back east/north all that often).
Plus, as an Eagles fan, I'll always appreciate you guys for B-Dawk! You know... even if Donovan and Marvin did hand him his lunch back in college...

Cuse FB fans are better overall than Cuse BB fans. That said we are nowhere in the Top 25 of jerkiest fanbases.
