Never understood why the SC pageant now gives them that silly silver platter to carry like they are at Buffet. lol. The SC pageant was ruined when it moved to Columbia from the upstate where it was held at the old Memorial Auditorium and then the Peace Center and Spartanburg. The TV production is always amateur and cheesy compared to what it used to be.

The article starts, "Another former Tiger wins a prestigious pageant", but - unless I missed it - never says how many former Tigers have been Miss SC. Anyone know the answer?

Shawn Weatherly in 1980 from Sumter SC. I do believe she went on to win Miss USA and also Miss Universe.
