Kearse was one of the worst players on our team last year, agree other than his ranking.

Jayron Kearse? Did you watch us play? Sure, he made some frosh mistakes, but he had an outstanding freshman campaign.

positions to play/learn (other than QB obviously) transitioning into college. If you see the field as a freshman, you're a talent, period, dot!

Look at the whole body of work by Kearse...

not just the plays he made mistakes on. He also made a lot of really good plays for a true freshman. Of course, for a lot of people on this board a few negative plays negate the positive plays which out number the negative plays.

Scott, Alexander, and Kearse shouldn't be on there. Scott and Alexander haven't seen any game time, and Scott isn't even listed as a starter. Jayron Kearse is still a good player and has as much potential as anyone on the team, but he just blew too many coverages last year. Personally I think Adam Humphries, Mike Williams, Isiah Battle, DJ Reader, Travis Blanks, Josh Watson, Robert Smith should all be listed before those 3.

dude takes the worst angles I've ever seen. He had more than his fair share of blown coverages as well.

I based Blanks off of him being moved back to Nickle/SAM, which is where he played when he was a freshmen all-american. I do agree he did look out of place a safety though.

Just because I wouldn't put him in my top 10 doesn't mean he isn't a good player especially with the amount of talent we have.

Where did I say Blanks wasn't a "good" player?
I think both can be very good players, but last year it seemed Blanks made as many bad plays as good. Pretty Obvious safety wasn't a good fit....
So in Conclusion, based on his performance last year, the fact that he is coming off major knee surgery, and the MANY other talented guys on our team. I do not believe Blanks should be a part of the top 10. Hopefully, he proves me wrong.

this thread was meant to see who people think are going to be the great players next year not necessarily who had a great year last year. 3 years ago I had this conversation with Paul Streelaw and he told me watch out for Sammy Watkins. so I'm making a guess on a couple of guys house hoping somebody else might make guests on a few other guys like Adam Choice.

I definitely see where you are coming from and by week 5 Alexander could be a top 10 player on our team, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he was. Just in my opinion someone who has never played a down of college ball can't be ranked over proven seasoned veterans, at least in the preseason.

to be a first or second round draft pick. He's 6'4"+/-, ran faster than Sammy in the 40, and was high-pointing the ball very well at the end of last season. Example, his TD in the OB where he's behind the DB in the end zone, but two feet above him, snagging the ball out of the air.....Sammyesque if you will.

Williams is a 6'3" possession receiver

Definitely not faster than Watkins. The only real knock on him coming out of HS was his speed. However, I think he can be the kind of dominant guy that someone like Kevin Youngblood was on jump balls and balls over the middle.

If Stoudt isn't a leader and a force, we're looking at a 9-3 or 8-4 season.
I admit Scott is a huge stretch, but that's the whole point of projecting this kind of stuff in Effing June.

when you have no clue how much he will play this season or if he will be redshirted. Why would leave off Mike Williams who we know will be playing and has shown he has the ability to be a good receiver?
