i never would want that. I grew up choosing Clemson over SEC schools. Like every one either rooted for Clemson or an SEC school. I don't understand the desire to be B1G?

I do. Hated the SEC for years. Competition and the geography would definitely be better and if that is where we end up I will not whine about it. It is just a personal thing for myself. Never have found myself rooting for any team in the SEC.

Agree with this. In state raised and love the South, but Clemson has sort of always been like the anti-sec and the sec foil in the South and I’m proud of that. Also can’t stand the it just means more garbage and the ESPN bias.
But yes logically the sec fits, it will just disgust me to see the logo on the jersey and field

Summerville SC born. I want the SEC, but it will be like we are in the ACC with the Carolina schools. We can consistently compete in Big Ten and get paid more than if we were in the SEC and no eSECpn association

I'm neutral. Happy with either if it gets us out of the ACC and provides more money to the program.
An SEC invite would tick off gamecock fans and there are many great matchups with SEC teams like Florida, UGa, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Texas and Oklahoma. The rest of the SEC doesn't excite me as much.
A B1G invite provides more money annually so you can't look past that and match ups with Penn St, Ohio St, Mich, Nebraska (history), Wisconsin, and now USC, Oregon and Washington get me excited for the potential away game visits.
Other than FSU, there isn't a game in conference that I look forward to at all.

Nope. I had rather take 3 of our southern ACC rivals (FSU, GT, Miami or NCSU) with us to the Big 12 if it can't be the SEC. Outside of playing Penn State and Oregon in football (and the newness would eventually wear off of that) none of the rest of them excite me.
IMO, The only benefit of the BIG would be that our games would be on all the free national over the air networks (FOX,CBS,NBC)

I don't really at this point. The Conf have nothing to do with Geographics anymore, just money. When all is said and done....5,10,15 years from now, they'll be just 2 major Conf with a bunch of divisions within, much like the NFL setup.

Yep, I prefer the BIG. I think they would appreciate us more. Better academics there, too. We wouldn't have to listen to Finebaum criticizing us on the SEC Network anytime we stump our toe or beat Alabama & Georgia.

Big Ears is going to criticize Dabo and Clemson wherever the Tigers go. If the Tigers go to the B1G, he'll spin something to put down Clemson. Especially if the Tigers are beating SEC teams in the CFP. It will be because of the SEC gauntlet.

I was born and raised in SC (Anderson County) and I would much prefer the BIG over the SEC. I have always despised the SEC schools especially the one in the middle of the state. They have an arrogance and cult like persona along with a trailer park vibe. I also despise how ESPN props them up (Vandy was playing Ky and the announcers talked about their SEC speed).
I have no love for the BIG but prefer their culture and Fox sports vs chanting SEC and ESPN.
If the money were equal, I would prefer the ACC and B12 combine into divisions but that does not seem to be a viable option so BIG would be my next choice.

I don't really care one way or the other. Conferences never really mattered to me. We play teams not conferences. I root for teams not conferences. I just hope wherever Clemson ends up it benefits the team. To #### with conferences.

Born and raised. Never been a "conference" guy. I'm a Clemson man. Couldn't care less which letters are painted on the field or the BB court. I would get just as much joy sticking it to SEC teams or B1G teams as I do ACC teams. Line-em up! We'll take'em all on!

just curious.... what makes a "born in raised in SC" fan any different or better than a Clemson graduate who was raised elsewhere?
I was a military brat, grew up all over the world/US - HS years in VA, graduated from Clemson. I would be happy in either the BIG or the SEC

I despise the SEC and ESPN. I have no great love for the B1G, but at least they consider academics important. I cannot figure out why the SEC bothers to associate with academic institutions. They are already NFL-lite and only desire to become more deeply embedded.

BIG - a better academic fit imo. So so fit culturally. Likely travel issues for many sports due to geography (plus winter weather).
SEC - best fit geographically and culturally imo. Rabid fan bases and support for virtually every school. Poor academic fit.
Both have pros and cons. As a Clemson alum I’m resigned to the ACC not being a viable long term option for success and hope to make my peace with either the BIG or SEC.

I want Clemson to end up in the conference that gives us the best opportunity to win irrespective of where the schools are located. My only reservation with the B1G is travel distance for nonrev sports and quality of competition for baseball. Almost every team I hate is in the SEC so if it was just about which schools I'd rather play against it's B1G all day long. If I had a magic wand I'd restore the ACC to it's former glory and stay in a conference that could compete financially wit the other two.
BTW I'm from the lowcountry
I don't love to hate the SEC schools like Jawaja, I just hate them.

Born in NC but raised in SC. My preference would be the SEC but would be OK with the BIG if that is the only option. My primary concern with the SEC is that it would most likely destroy our men's soccer program since that is not a sponsored SEC sport. Would hate to see a program that has won 4 NC's go down the tubes.

Born & raised in SC.
While we are better cultural and geographical fit for the SEC, I don't mind the idea of joining the BIG10 because of the financial problems with ESPN.
Fox Sports will soon be way better than what ESPN is trotting out there.

Missouri or UCLA
Texas or Nebraska
Auburn or Washington
Oklahoma or Maryland....
I made the list and initially left off Texas and Oklahoma....throw them in there, and I lean to the SEC.
SO..I like them both!

I actually like the intrigue of the B1G! I think going to new venues in the Midwest & northeast would be very cool. And speaking of cool, I think it would be a big disadvantage for us in Nov!! Let's face it, our guys aren't used to it. But the $$, step up in competition (Mich, Ohio St, Penn St, Oregon) & the academic side would all be major pluses!

I trust that the Clemson administration will do what's best for the university. Based on our 19 sports programs, and the comment about the SEC not supporting the soccer program, then I would choose the Big. Better academics, more money and no affiliation with ESPN. I can get excited about playing OSU, Michigan, Oregon, Washington, USC. Just my 2 cents. Go Tigers.
