I agree but the only way they leave us out is if they take 2 SEC teams. I don't think that's happening

Why not? UGA at 12-1 would definitely have the better resume***

exactly how does Georgia have a better resume?
expand the playoffs and include all division one conference winners. add some at large if you like and make a team win it on the field. If the conference is not good enough to compete or midmajor then put them in another division!

Good question!
Nov 10, 2017, 2:53 PM

Their top 3 wins would be.... top 4 Notre Dame, Auburn, Miss St. Their loss would be to #1 Bama Our top 3 wins would be against Miami, Auburn and Virginia Tech. Our loss would be to Syracuse
I agree that the rest of our wins are better than the rest of their wins by a long shot, but I think the committee looks primarily at the biggest wins.

And I think the fact that Clemson would have a conference title, while Ga lacked one, would make the difference. Their resume would, in no way, shape, or form, be better than ours. Osu was able to get in last year only because PSU had 2 losses. Not the same this year.

But not having a Conf Championship is very big in the committees eye and also the NC and runner up. UGA wouldn't have any of that

Ohio State was in last year with no conf championship

and the even lost to the team than won it.
UGA would have a MUCH better resume this year than Ohio State did last year.

that was a little different because it was basically them or a 2 loss Penn State team. A 12-1 Conference champ with a good resume should get in over a 12-1 non-conf champ IMO.

if Wisconsin goes 13-0 they better get in. In my opinion Notre Dame at 11-1 and UGA at 12-1 should not get in ahead of 12-1 Clemson, 12-1 OU, or 13-0 Wisconsin. Conference championships are supposed to carry weight.
Still got a lot of football to play. It'll probably work itself out. We just need to beat FSU

I believe the "defending national champions" will weigh in somehow. I know this is supposed to only be based on this season's games, but if the defending champs are 4th or 5th and you're trying to decide between 2 teams with very similar resumes, you can't leave the defending champions out.

Exactly right. Much as the committee says it's only based on this year's body of work, & not name brand recognition (if true, Bama would be ranked where Wisky is), defending champs, in any sport, carries a little extra cache along with it. If we're neck and neck with OU, going down a list of tiebreakers, absolutely that would put the Tigers over the top.

Tigers win out and will be in.
Remember that only 2 P5 teams finished the season last year with 1 loss and no one finished undefeated. It will sort itself out and will be very likely to have a bunch of 1 loss teams stacked up at the end I bet.
Go Tigers!
