1. DW4. I hate his off the field ####, but just purely on who was the best, it's him. His 2015 season is still one of the most out of this world performances I have ever seen. He was the first QB in NCAA history to pass for over 4000 yards and rush for over 1000. The way he could escape situations where 100% of other QB's playing at the time would be sacked was jaw dropping. He wasn't jsut was, in fact we wasn't a speedster, but he had vision like a running back and could wait for blockers and knew how to cut into open field.

2. TL16. The most accurate passer I have ever seen at Clemson. DW4 was better overall, but as a pure passer, TL was better. Had the most beautiful release of any Clemson QB I have ever seen. Understood the game at a higher level than DW4. And, really surprised me with how athletic he really was. Dude was deceptively fast. We all saw that on the long run against Ohio State in the playoffs 2019.

Current number 3. Tajh Boyd, the best QB in Clemson history until DW4 came along. Heart of a lion, we all remember games where he would get absolutely beat up continuously being the short yard back. On fourth and 1, everyone in the stadium and watching at home knew what was gonna happen. Tajh, was gonna get it in the pistol and run straight into the defense. And more times than not, he got the first down. He still holds some Clemson Career passing records

Possible number 3 Cade. He could get to number 3 with the scenario mentioned in OP's post. A heisman trophy, but no national title. Dw4 and TL16 both went to two title games, winning one each. That cements them as the top two. But, if Cade brought home the first Heisman in Clemson History, then he would jump to number 3. If he won the Heisman and a title, as weird as it would feel, we would need to talk about him as the Clemson GOAT.

I reverse your #1 and 2. But close.
Not sure your age, but not having Homer Jordan as #3 is not giving him his due. While not a gun slinger, nor in an era of passing and padding stats, he was the man, the glue, and the reason Clemson won the 81 Nattie.
I have Cade 4, Boyd #5.

Well Homer was #3- jersey at least. I get your point. The eras and style of play are so different stat comparisons dont work though. At what they did Homer and even woody were great but it was so different than today.

I'm 35, and my uncle was on the 81 team. So I am well aware of Homer Jordan.I just do not think he was as good as the others I listed. He was on a team that mostly ran the ball on offense, and was largely successful because of it's defense.

And just adding, and I know you won't agree. If I had to list further, I would put Charlie Whitehurst ahead of Jordan as well.

Good assessment except for Tajh. he was a good QB but not the best in my opinion. His receivers made him good. The receivers he had allowed him to throw the ball in their vicinity, which he often did, and they would grab it.
