Let me help you out here. Take it FWIW. Constantly stating you're an alum isn't helping, it sounds like you might be protesting too much. Besides being an alum doesn't make you MORE of a fan than someone who isn't an alum. In fact it sounds rather elitist

Given we made the playoffs as well, you could also say that Ohio State did not have a good enough record to play us this year since they were ranked 8th and not 5th like Texas.
Regardless, since we never played though, we'll never know whether they would have embarrassed us or not.

They me ade the semifinals when we didn't make the quarterfinals. We lost our only playoff game.
They beat two other playoff teams - best downs.

I'm not arguing that we would win. But since we did not play in reality, there is no way of truly knowing the outcome.
Now we can make assumptions that based on theirs and ours recent performances that they would have embarrassed us. And if we had played, the odds would be in their favor of that outcome. However, given that Michigan (who did not make the playoffs and had a worse record) also beat them, it's also possible that we would have beaten them. Hence the "any given Sunday" saying.
But since we did not play one another, we'll never truly know.
