One advanced metric has a wide gap between Clemson and Florida State in 2023.
The FEI, which is used by Football Outsiders, has Clemson No. 8 with a No. 28 offense and No. 3 defense, as well as a Top 50 special teams group (43).
You don't find Florida State until spot No. 22, with a No. 17 offense and No. 33 defense (plus a No. 71 special teams group).
Notre Dame is seen as Clemson's toughest opponent (No. 12/27 O/14 D/7 STs).
Outside of Clemson, the metric isn't high on the ACC overall with the next-best league team at No. 37 (Wake Forest), then Louisville (44), Pitt (45) and UNC all the way back at No. 53. September non-conference opponent FAU (84) is ahead of both Virginia Tech (89) and Georgia Tech (96).
South Carolina is No. 41 there.

Especially from ESPN, has everything to do with FSU kickoff game vs. LSU. Marketing LSU vs ACC favorite. Vegas odds are not buying especially in Clemson.

If F$U was playing someone other than a E$ecPN school. F$U would not be in the top ten. LSU-36 F$U-17

Would we not want fsu to beat LSU down? Could hatred and jealousy for other teams be blinding so called fans when it comes to what actually helps Clemson? With the cards dealt, the best thing for Clemson is to play fsu with them being highly ranked. That helps Clemson. LSU revealing them as not ready for prime time will absolutely hurt us. Who said LSU was all that good? The overall confusion is evident in the minds of our brilliant Tnet population. Let me help: We want to play our opponents when they are highly ranked. It is beneficial to our chances to make the playoff. Jealousy over preseason rankings is misplaced when we get to play and prove where we stand in month or so.
For the thinking people, we need our opponents to be well regarded when we play them - win or lose against a highly ranked opponent and your season has legs. Lose to or barely beat an unranked opponent and we are done. That’s why FAU and the likes should never ever be scheduled. We can’t beat every team 75-0 so some form of reality needs to be considered. So if you want fsu to get destroyed by lsu, you are not thinking clearly and you must not be a Clemson fan, and certainly not a graduate.

I totally agree that we want FSU to beat LSU, come to Death Valley ranked higher than us, and then beat the slop out of them. I would also like LSU to run the table in the SEC after losing to FSU, somewhat like they did last year.

My favorite teams are Clemson, whomever is playing USCjr, whomever is playing Notre Dame, and whomever is playing FSU. I must not be a Clemson fan, but my diploma definitely reads Clemson University.

Don’t forget Ohio State. I have grown to really despise that group.

I see 9 future/current B1G teams and 10 future/current SEC teams in the top 25. 3 Big 12, 2 ACC, and ND round it out. Crazy when you look at it that way. 76% in B1G/SEC. Possibly going up to ~85%

I certainly want FSU to beat LSU. It is good for us and I wasn't crazy about their fans as i was leaving the NCG in New Orleans.

I guess it's all about the timing. Before we play a team we want to convince ourselves how bad they are and after we beat them we want the world to know how good they are.
