Assuming Ray Ray catches the ball, who has most upside returning?

The talk of amari Rodgers being like Scott is enticing but he also weighs 30 more pounds. Not sure his speed. Ray ray would have the opportunity to take it to the house if he could catch it. Feaster as well. Thoughts? Who do you think our most dynamic returner could be just based on speed and athleticism? Right now catching the ball not part of the equation. Though I will grant I'd rather take a fair catch every play then to give up the ball.

I'd love to see us find a punt returner like Danny had in his time at Clemson. His punt returners were a little bit river boat gamblers in that they did not like to fair catch but make something happen in the return game.

I'd really like to see Cornell Powell get a shot. Incredible return stats in high school. His highlights are very impressive. I believe in the shrine bowl he took a KO to the house and nearly broke another one. I believe he had like 200 total return yards for that game. Has great speed & instincts. Oh and he can catch the ball!

will surprise as solid contributor on Offense and return game by season end. Of course, Renfrow is rock solid. Yes, Ray Ray has potential and let's hope he achieves it.

I just hope someone steps up and makes the return game a weapon again like the days of Sammy. We certainly have enough playmakers to choose from.

Love to see him. I'd love to have a return guy who spots our o 10-15 yes frequently and 7 pts now and again.

I actually think Amari is faster than Scott if I'm not mistaken but yea if ray ray could catch it every punt and not give me a heart attack I'd love him to be PR guy or see if Fiester with his speed would be my second choice then Powell prob

If that were true about Dabo, RR wouldn't have had as many opportunities as he did. Feaster has yet to impress me with his KO returns. Just a little timid to turn on the jets, but some may be due to the blocking. Both really have great potential. Give me the sure handed guys that catch the ball. Our offense will score!
Two things I hate on punts. Trying to block a kick and get a stupid penalty or turning the ball over...both stress out a good defense performance to get them to punt in the first place.

I posed this question a few weeks ago. A lot of the same answers, Powell got most votes it seems. I agree with OP, I'd rather have a secure catch than to gamble with dropping the ball. With all of the talent we have this year, a consistent punt returner will emerge.

Rodgers speed is not a concern. He is explosive. In 8 games last year, he had 34 catches, 1058 yards, 31.1 yards per catch and 18 touchdowns. His speed is not in question. Whoever is quarterback is going to have the weapons, just needs to get them the ball.

I wrote that after reading an article comparing ray ray and amari.

My understanding is that amari is an upgrade athletically. I just don't know his speed other than watching film vs other high schoolers. He outweighs Scott by 30 lbs. Scott's consistency and work ethic will be tough to match. I thought it was an odd comparison. I guess I see height and scheme wise but I think amari is gonna be ridiculous. And I'm not concerned about his speed just don't know what it actually is. 40?

The Coach has made many predictions and usually has come out with a smiley face - " Told ya so " Ya'll just wouldn't listen. Ever since Ray Ray set foot on campus Dabo has said he would be great one day. Funny part is Dabo even said it when Ray Ray was in his dog house!!!!! Make no mistake about it Dabo knows talent!!!! I'm with him, Rat Ray is the return man, Period!!!!!
Go Tigers!!!!!!

He gets a heck of a lot more right then wrong. If he put in Big Dex at kickoff return I'd disagree with him but I'd support him. I'm just trying to talk football. If he puts Ray Ray in then I'm fine with that. I agree he has a lot of potential but at this point in his year should be talking performance more than potential until he goes pro.

Feaster and Ray ray give you immediate hold your breath return ability. Both need to work on securing the ball b4 running. That comes with confidence and practice. Powell can also do this very well. He use to return alot back in highschool. At the end of the day nobody can do anything without good blocking. We need some mean head hunters in front who want to pancake blocks n set an edge. Cj was so good bc he would see the wall act like he was going into it and bounce outside with huge acceleration. Feaster can do that with his speed.

he ran really timid last year when he had opportunities. I was always waiting for him to show out at some point but he seemed scared to risk anything. Maybe a new year changes all that.

Feaster wasnt 100% last year. He had surgery on his shoulder just a couple of months before fall practice. He may have ran a little timid bc his shoulder wasn't 100%. We have alot of options at KR/PR but my choice would be either Ray Ray, Powell or Renfrow instead of Feaster. We just cant risk an injury to Feaster with our RB depth. We have 3 solid RBs with experience. Etienne coming in this summer and a walk on RB (cant remember his name) who is supposed to be really good will help but if Feaster, Choice or Fuller goes down we may be in a little bit of trouble. I could see Ray Ray taking snaps at RB if we absolutely needed him too.
