Our D Line should have been more dominant imo. Don’t think they came close to expectations of the preseason hype…..especially Murphy. I realize it was a tough personal year for Bresee. Most criticism points to the secondary but the guys up front were not great either. I don’t think either will be all pro caliber nfl players like Dex and Wilkins. I guess time will tell if they are worthy of the 1st rd picks.

That is a good point. The NFL will not allow them to get held like they did in the ACC.

Agreed. Our D was not quite as good this year. We had a lot of injuries early in the year. New coordinator too. Tough combination.

Bresee had a year of turmoil

he gets a pass. Murphy underacieved. Both have elite talent.
Injuries in the secondary really hurt. Jones missed multiple games. Mukuba played injured most of the year. Greene again missed a bunch of games. Venables out late in the year.
XT hurt almost all year didn't help either. Was a substandard year, especially on the backend.

Murphy had a good year starting ~ 4th game of the season … I.e., after Dabo chewed him out for loafing.
Good coaches do not condone laziness. Thanks to getting his wake-up call, Murphy is ready for the NFL.
Bresee … everyone knows about the various factors which impaired his overall performance in both 2021 and 2022. Bresee looked great against both UNC and TN; he made the right decision to pursue NFL career.
Whether both (or either) end up as first rounders … not so sure about that.

Not really because the college game and the NFL games are so different. NFL teams have dominant linebackers nd the interior linemen clog up the line to stop the run and free the backers. In the college game, the interior guys have to deal with the entire width of the field and contain. The pros look for bulk, strength and length and Murphy and Bresee have that.

I see the Murphy hype. Not so sure what anyone sees in Bresee. Slow off the ball, hands are average.
He just has the body type i guess
