If you went or stayed in college basketball because you did not like dealing with the business side then yes he may need to head down to the high school level.
Only amateur basketball being played anymore and I’m not 100% sure about that.
Wish him well; seems like a good guy!

I dont blame him college athletics is a joke, and education is the punchline.

Its not about helping kids be the best version of themselves on and off the field and developing young men and women into grown adults. Its sole purpose now is to sacrifice everything at the feet of the almighty dollar. Larranaga said the turning point for him was when they made the final four, and immediately afterward had 8 players transfer out looking for better NIL money....college sports is dead.

I don’t blame him . College athletetics have become disgusting. It used to be the purest brand of sport. Education means nothing. It sucks to be a coach nowadays. These kids no longer want to learn or get better. They just want o take take take. Unfortunately, this a microcosm of our society as a whole. Really a bummer we lost such a great coach.

The 3 major college sports are passing bye bye to the old dinosaurs who have been in the sport for decades. It's a new day Adapt or get out. Pretty simple, really as it is no different than all things which never remain the same.

Count me as a dinosaur until there are rules in place. No one can build and maintain a consistent roster with this mess. Beamer looks to being close to having a new team next year. Either ran out of eligibility (if that’s even possible anymore) or they leave.
So far at Clemson we still know to a certain degree what we have for the next year. That could change tomorrow, but I do appreciate that.
I just want competitive fairness across the board.

It is never going back to what it once was. You don't take a billion dollars industry built on the backs of teens and very young adults, while most of the ones engaged in the revenue production come from an impoverished background, and the ones getting rich from it keep pretending the players are getting fairly compensated.
I am glad it is moving forward and am elated that players are finally getting some of the loot. Any of the million dollar plus coaches and others involved complaining about it are hypoctites.

That’s the problem. The players have not gotten ANY of the loot. NIL is being paid off of the backs of boosters and in the current configuration is not sustainable. If the agreement with the house is put on hold, college athletics will be in an even bigger mess.

I doubt it will, but I hope something comes out of all the good coaches stepping away and saying the same thing. It will change because it has to.

I don’t think it will matter. I’m betting those promoting the “new landscape” are glad most of the coaches who want to be teachers and role models are getting out of the way. Some of those old dinosaurs actually think players should be in college to get an education. Get those guys out of the way!!

The “I’m 4-8 landscape?” He wasn’t frustrated when all the portalers were coming to him.
The portal giveth and taketh away.
He’s a good coach and I’m baffled with the talent he had last year that it soured so quickly.

I agree with you. Miami has the one booster that has paid for players and has essentially told the NCAA to stick it. I believe the guy is in financial trouble now.

I think DRad tried to play that card, but JL was more like, I failed these kids since the FF. JL flourished from NIL, it would be hypocritical for him to abandon it.
Just like Icarus, I guess.

Jay Wright, Brey. Several others that were retirement age but I’m sure would have stayed longer without the mess of college athletics today.
