I read a lot of articles and posts about how cyclical things

Nov 30, 2016, 4:48 PM

are. A lot of how South Carolina will be back and Clemson will be down again. "Things run in cycles" sorta thing...

I'm not sure I'm buying that.... and at best I think it's hopeful thinking for the gamecluck faithful.. why?

Well, I don't think Dabo or Brent are going anywhere, add in the awesome supporting staff we have and the fact that I really think Muchchump is going to be a failure and I believe we may very well be up a long time to come....

Maybe "ELITE" is starting to catch on...

Prior to the five year streak, you have to go back 40 years

to find USC winning two in a row. That ain't a cycle.

Meanwhile, during that time, we had several four-year streaks.

I agree. It's really tough to see them beating us anytime

The longer we are good the better it is for the program if a coach were ever to leave. If we are looked at as an 'elite' school and desirable coaching job (could be seen as top 10 coaching job) we will always be able to pull an elite coach. No more Tommy Bowdens or Wests. We wouldn't get stuck with a Muschamp or washed up Holtz/Spurrier. We would be able to bring in elite coaches.

I posted earlier today about "cycles".

I had pity on a gamecoot in the grocery store on Sunday. He came up to me and said that we absolutely killed them and he was too ashamed to wear his gamecoot gear. He had on an App State sweatshirt.

For some reason, I just couldn't rub it in because had beaten them so bad. So, to make him feel better I told him that it goes in cycles. To my surprise he said, "Not really. You guys have dominated us through the years."

So, at least one coot "gets it" and is a realist. But I agree with your post. The only cycle in our series with the coots is one big Clemson winning cycle. And we would have won more if the series had been home and home from the start. The first 50 or 60 games were always in Columbia.

But yes, you're right. There has been no "cyclical" thing when it comes to Clemson vs. USuCK.

The "Cycle" is that we win 7 out of every 10 games ...

However ... every time SCar hires a really great coach at the end of his career ... and the Palmetto State produces half dozen Four/Five-Star players in quick succession who happen to have grown up gamecock fans ... then a slight variance has been known to occur.

Neither of these rarities is currently in place for South Carolina.
