Cedric‘s fish and chips wasn’t too bad back in the day in a pinch.
Speaking of back in the day, I loved Del taco when I was at Clemson back in the 80s and I passed a del taco on Saint Andrews Boulevard last week when I was in Columbia on business. I #### near ran off the road.

Biminis in Myrtle Beach and they also have a location in Greenville. Really good fried shrimp and oyster roast. Just make sure to ask for the oysters to be “lightly steamed”.
Gillian’s is pretty good too. At least the one on Johns Island.

Gilligans on Johns Island has taken a turn for the worse. Not sure if you have been there lately but the food is almost not edible. Royal Tern on Johns Island is the best by far in the LowCountry

It’s been about a year. Where is Royal Tern? I grew up on Johns Island and my family still lives there so we get down there a 2-3 times a year. Usually just cook something on the grill and hang out at home instead of eating out.

Royal Tern is more or less across from the Fat Hen (which closed) on the same side of the street as the Wild Olive. Eaten there once but was bougie seafood. Really good but if you are expecting a giant plate of fired shrimp this is not it

Sounds like it’s near where the Ohlandt’s Red And White that I worked at in high school was. That was a long time ago. Thanks for the review. I’m more about taste than presentation when it comes to restaurants and I sure don’t like paying a big bill and leaving hungry.

Excellent fried flounder and some of the best deviled crab you’ll ever get.
I had lunch there last week.
If anyone likes deviled crab call Georgetown Seafood and ask them to ship you a case of deviled crabs. They come frozen and individually wrapped. I think there’s at least a dozen or more in a case. Very reasonably priced. They get them from somewhere down in Alabama on the gulf coast. Hands-down best deviled crab I’ve ever had and I love deviled crab.
Fishnet Seafood on Highway 17 S. in Red Top heading out of Charleston is an excellent little joint.
For more high-end seafood there’s places everywhere downtown that are excellent but it’s hard to go wrong with Hanks. Blossom. SNOB. Leon’s.

I usually get the shrimp and grits.
Just not a big fan of the location. It's located at the Warehouse at Vaughan's along with a lot of other restaurant-type places. Families tend to just let their kids run wild and unsupervised. Most of the seating is outdoors.

Yes! Thank you.
It’s funny how places could get hot for a short period of time. We’re so fickle at that age. 6 to 9 months is an eternity. Crazy how fads come and go so quick and easily, which is exactly why it’s insane that people think it’s a good idea to let children make life altering decisions and if you question that you’re the one that they think is crazy.

The two best seafood places in Charleston ever are long gone.

The Trawler on Shem Creek and the Atlantic House on Folly Beach. Both have been gone since the late 70s early 80s.
Back in the late 60s and early 70s my family used to actually stay at the Atlantic House every year for a week. We were friends with the owners. They sold it to the people that turned it into a restaurant. The house was named the Atlantic house and they kept the name for the restaurant. I learned how to swim there when I was three years old and had my first beer. Lol!
But the best fried seafood ever has been gone since the late 90s. Edisto Motel Grill in Jacksonboro.

Has been gone for decades. Probably since the 80s early 90s at the latest.
My dad still talks about the crab dip and captains wafers that they used to give every table when they seated you. The way Mexican restaurants give you chips and salsa for free. That crab dip was fantastic and Lance Captain’s wafers are always awesome!

The owner, Ronnie Bowles, was getting older and having some health-related issues and he felt it was time for him to retire.
Too bad. It was a great spot for a lot of years.
There used to be a place across the street down Mill Street called the Shem Creek Bar & Grill that was really good. Not sure if it still there though.

I would have to add Bowen’s Island out near Folly beach to the list, that is my favorite place to eat

I really enjoyed Sullivan's on Sullivans Island

When I was going with a group of guys to Isle of Palms each year, we would always go to Sullivan's.
Unfortunately, they are closed now. The owner chose to retire to take care of her mother in Charleston. It may be reopened but I haven't checked.

Calabash since I was a kid going with my family. After I moved away, I would eat there everytime I was in the MB area.

When I was a kid and the family was vacationing at the beach, we would always eat at Mammy's Kitchen.

Omg we did too. Mammy’s was a yearly thing just like going to the pavilion and the gay dolphin.

There are at least a dozen places in Charleston that are as good as any seafood in the country.
