Here's the problem I think the ACC leadership has right now

They don't know what exactly FSU (and likely by extension, Clemson) are going to do. Will they leave? Do they really have a way out? Will they just negotiate a deal? Will others look to leave, etc...

Their problem is, while all this is happening, other conferences are meeting and moving forward with plans to do the following:

1. give the remaining PAC schools a home (AAC, MWC currently meeting about this)

2. the bigger G5 schools could be on the move, either to a new PAC or a newly formed conference.


If you are the ACC, not only do you not have the votes to expand.. but it looks increasingly like their will not be many schools left to pursue if you do lose members.

This is why I think there is such a strong push for Cal/Stan/SMU. There will be another strong push today. UNC is the "no" vote that worries me. UVA was against the original GOR (with FSU), so I am pretty confident they stand pat. FSU and Clem will not change.

I wonder how true it is that UNC is the no vote. Seems like they’d be all about rubbing elbows with Stanford.
