Each Graduate Receives A Clemson Two Dollar Bill

May 12, 2006, 2:24 PM

Each graduate received a Clemson two dollar bill to keep and two one dollar bills they could give back to Clemson as their first donation to the Clemson Fund. I hope they all gave back. Giving back shows your appreciation of your Clemson degree.

My degree has done so much for me and my family. To show my appreciation I have a continuous giving record of 54 years. Amounts were small but sincere.

I don't know how it was done. I was hoping for an eye-witness report.

clemson used to really aprreciate the small donors but

May 12, 2006, 2:28 PM

unfortunately the small donors have been sort of snubbed of late due to big donors. I'm not starting anything, just saying that clemson has had to think about money so they can compete with FSU and Miami on facilities. Its a shame that money talks, but its a fact of life in the facilities race.

He's talking about the Clemson Fund, not IPTAY....

May 12, 2006, 2:29 PM

Two different things entirely.

I Don't Agree

May 12, 2006, 2:50 PM [ in reply to clemson used to really aprreciate the small donors but ]

The $10 donor receives the same thank you letter, benefits, decals as the bigger donors. The campaign is to increase the percentage of donors. The goal is to get 27% alumni participation. That is 27% of the alumni giving something back to either the Clemson Fund or IPTAY.

you know, I need to send a small check. After many years

May 12, 2006, 2:57 PM

of donating (with a company match), I changed jobs and started writing big tuition checks for the kids, and the Clemson Fund was a casualty. Now that the youngest one will be at Clemson next fall, I should step it back up.

By the way, the $2 bill thing is cool. I wish I'd gotten one in '79.

That's really cool

May 12, 2006, 2:40 PM

and I believe that's just starting this year. I didn't get any freebies last year ;) I hope everyone does give back, if even just a tiny bit. My fiancee and I each give (about $25 each) and we're trying to bump it up each year, even if only $5. I hope all alumni can do SOMETHING to give back to the school, whether it's monetary or service. It doesn't matter how large or significant as long as you're doing what you can.

I like to think, more than that,

May 12, 2006, 2:54 PM

that I'm doing a better job following the example set in the previous 100 years of Clemson's existence. I'm just proud to be a Tiger and I want other people to have that pride. I feel this is a good way to accomplish that.

Yes- The Clemson Alumni Association DID give
graduates a $2 bill stamped with a orange Tiger Paw. They also gave a second envelope with $2 and ask each graduate to give that back as a gift to Clemson on the day on the graduation.

Thank You! Looks like a 1 1/4 inch paw, pigment based ink and perfect location. The Alumni Association again does things the correct way.
