$11.5 Million...

11

Oct 31, 2023, 10:16 AM

I am sick and tired of hearing about how much Dabo is making. I couldn't give a crap, it has no bearing on what it currently going on right know, that money is what Dabo has done up until now. Given where our program was before he come along and if we where told we would have the success he has brought since his hiring, anyone in their right mind would have gladly approved his current contract. Two Natty's for crying out loud. 6 consecutive CFP appearances. A national brand that everyone recognizes. The achievements are mind blowing. I have little doubt that up until now Dabo would have made the exact same decisions that he has today even if his contact was 50K per year.

If you want to call him arrogant, that is your right. Is he stubborn, yeah, probably. Is he overly optimistic, of course, to a fault. Should he be held accountable hell yes. Is Dabo as disappointed in this season as all of us, probably even more so. Should he be snapping and going rogue on Coot callers, absolutely not, the optics are horrible. Has he gone too far in not adapting to some of the changes in college football, yep I believe so. Will there be another contract or even one as lucrative, who knows.

This season is tearing up Coach Swinney and I am sure he is questioning himself quite a bit, for anyone that has had to do the same it is not fun. He has tried to stick to principles that he felt were critical to the long term success of this program, unfortunately, it appears he as wrong on a few fronts. Nobody care more than him.

Sorry, call me loyal to a fault, I am sticking with Dabo. If one bad or two bad seasons is what it takes to get him to adapt, I am good with that. Let's see where this takes us.

DS is the greatest ambassador Clemson has known since Howard, Tillman...

Green, other?

He's now compensated for all the benefit brought by the Flutie Effect, the growth, the crest of the tsunami he created and on which Clemson hung ten to blossom in to what it is today and not simply football wins & losses.

I agree.

Fans are short sighted. They can't see past the scoreboard and few come equipped with a rear view mirror.

Arrogance or insecurity? It's a fine line

between the two but why does Dabo constantly feel the need to list his resume every time he is questioned? Last night was a little different because it seemed personal. I've been proud to call him our coach with how he handleshimself way more times than not, but lately his constant resume spouting and comments about fans is just making him look bad.

If I am talking to somebody who has clearly forgotten something important, I tend to want to remind them as well.

When one doesn’t have a resume it’s hard to explain to them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Uh....insecure about what exactly???

Being a first ballot HoF coach?

What about all those millions we wasted on Hatfield, West and Bowden?

Dabo's record is well worth his salary.

Dabo is underpaid

Oct 31, 2023, 10:47 AM

Look at the value to the University and town that winning has brought.

Tyler may have some valid questions or points, but bringing up Dabo's salary is pointless and stupid.

Dabo has done more to promote Clemson University than anyone in its existence. Bar none.

This is not a smart take. You confuse two things. Absolutely no one is saying that Dabo's salary is the reason Clemson is 7-7 in its last 14 games and on a downward trajectory for 5 years. I agree with you. Even if Dabo were making a tenth of what he's making, he probably would make the same decisions. I won't engage with why I think that is, but we'll just say I agree.

The point is that Clemson can and should expect a better record. College football is not the same as it was in 2018. We were the top program in the country in 2018. Since, we're right outside the top 10. I don't think any one is saying Dabo is a bad coach. But we're like the #12 or #13 program at the moment, while we're paying Dabo the second team. Dabo is paid more than the two-time defending national champion who's the current favorite to win it a third time. He's paid more than Harbaugh and Day, who have been successful in the new college football landscape.

From what I've seen, no one is saying Dabo is the worst coach. They're saying, for the price we're paying him, we could get a coach who is more proven to be successful in this new college football landscape. I don't entirely agree with that. I think he gets some leeway, if he's willing to knock the nepotistic and cronyistic #### off. But they're not unreasonable. And you're entire post is attacking a strawman.

Then you can’t read 1.5er. Ask your coot brethren to get together and pony up for a tutor.

First, I'm an actual Clemson grad. Second, I guarantee you I'm significantly better educated than you. Third, if you say I'm wrong, find me a single poster on here calling for Dabo's head right now or saying that his salary is why he's making the decisions he's making.

Agreed. I might complain along the way, but I still believe in Dabo and I will not question his worth.

Dabo’s earned salary. 12 years of 10 wins or more has been accomplished by 3 teams, ever.

Dabo’s salary is in line with his resume and the rest of college football.
