Brownell will be back next year and here's why...

DRad will be conducting a national search for a new softball coach (position is already open), and thus won't possibly have the time to look for a new men's basketball coach, much less a new men's head basketball coach AND wimmins head basketball coach.
Maybe once things settle down with the softball coaching search DRad will be able to focus on our basketball programs.

No, the search for a new softball coach has nothing to do with it. It's more about the buyout, unless there is some well-to-do booster guy willing to fork out the buyout.

Or hear me out... What if we just have one team of guys that "identify" as women during those games.

It would be asinine to prioritize finding a coach for a non-existent women's softball team over a coach for an ACC basketball position. It's all about the $$$ and exposure. Basketball brings it, or at least it used to bring it much more than what will be the case if Brownell is still around next year.

DRad won't be doing the search for softball

He will leave that to the women's administrator or someone else. He will have input but he won't get bogged down with coaching searches for Olympic sports. He will, however, be tied up in the facility discussions. Regardless, he needs to be smart about Men's Basketball. You can have all the bells and whistles, great sight lines, a shiny concourse, etc, but if no one shows up for the games to watch the same mediocre product, you are going to drive the program further into the ground. Brownell understands the game but I have zero confidence he knows how to manage the game, particularly near the end. We have some skill at certain positions and I would hope that he would at least consider shaking up his staff to get the right assistants to help them develop.

I can't say that I have had the pleasure of meeting you, at least not to my knowledge. Maybe your posts are meant to be sarcastic based on your spelling of "Deer" and "Bewm". I hope I can be as witty one day. I am simply stating what I know to be the norm for Athletic Directors at DRad's level. I've only worked in professional and collegiate athletics for the past 17 years so what do I know...As for hiring Monte Lee, my 8 year old knew we should hire Monte when Jack was let go. It was a no brainer. DRad has final say but I can promise you he isn't the one spending his time conducting the search. Ask Jim Davis - he was done in by the female administrator who had a personal issue with him. Our "wimmins" basketball has never recovered.

DRad lets Associate ADs run the searches for minor head coaches and saves the biggies for himself.
In all likelihood Natale Honnen or Kyle Young will run the Women's Softball Coach search and DRad will run the Men's Basketball Coach search whenever it occurs.
