Does Saban need to rethink his assistant hiring

practices, and focus more on longer term, in house training and promotion instead of his more free agent style with former head coaches and other cast-offs filling key coaching roles? And how about being as active as he is in the transfer portal? Bama has 4 losses now going back to the start of last year - is Saban too stubborn to own up to and adjust from these glaring mistakes? It's clearly not working for him. Is he too blind to see what is so obvious to everyone else?

he's lost nail biters to some really good programs. We got curb stomped by a team that Marshall man-handled.

We certainly laid a big, nasty old egg Saturday night, in every phase of the game. Dabo immediately stepped up and placed that loss squarely on his shoulders for not having the team ready, and that's exactly what it looked like. We got outplayed, out intensed, outhustled, you name it. Ship happens. Fortunately these types of games are few and far between for us. We've seen how many of our fans respond to a Loss like that - it ain't pretty. Hopefully Dabo and the team have more faith in themselves than what's being displayed on here, which is pretty likely.

If Alabama and Saban had an ACC schedule, he would have none of what you describe. If Dabo had Bama's schedule, Clemson would be 3-6 right now. Good try.

Really?

Alabama beat Utah State, Texas, UL Monroe, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State and lost to Tennessee and LSU. Not really the schedule you're imagining.
Bama kicked a field goal with under 10 seconds left to beat Texas and their backup QB by 1 point. A&M had the ball on the 2 on the last play with a shot at the winning TD, the A&M team that lost to App State and SC. They could easily have 4 losses. Not sure why the illusion is that they're so much better; maybe bc they've been good for so long.

It's the big and bad SEC. It just means more, of course.

They are buying into the SEC bias. It just means more.

It never is the SEC thinks a little highly of themselves and who they play. They will pre season rank 7-8 of them to be sure it covers those that would then lose to ranked teams.
This year they have LSU (Florida St beat them) Bama Georgia (by far the best team in the nation) Tenn (took one in the chin Sat but still a good team)
Other than that the SEC is what it is and not what the media would have you believe

so far this year...
Oh, and Bama made the CFPCG last year, right? And they won the 2020 NC.

Yes. Dabo has the recipe. Hire former players who have never

been exposed to any other Division 1 Power 5 programs and an analyst who has never called a play to replace the one of the best DC to ever coach in college football to help run the current 2nd most elite program in the nation.
It's no wonder these guys are loyal to Dabo. He has given them the most ultimate fast track coaching opportunity one could ever imagine.
If Saban hired random inexperienced former players, then his coaches wouldn't leave all the time.

You do know how many years these guys have been part of this program, right? The time they've put in in lesser roles working their way up the ladder? Did Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott get fast tracked to their OC duties? Please. This is a lazy take.

So let me get this straight....you're questioning the decisions of the most successful coach in the modern era?

Well, we have the 2nd most successful active coach in the modern era, and when he loses a game it's 'revamp the whole shebang'. So yeah, why not.

Are we seriously bxxching about coaching hires made by Swinney?
If he made a mistake he will fix it, but it’s not like the guys were working at Wal Mart.
Sounding like Coot fans with Satterfield.
You think Dabo says WTH I like getting thumped on national tv to an unrated ND team.
2 first year coordinators. Unreal hope your boss men or women give you a little less shizz in year 1 of your professions.
Fans are not understanding that Streeter is not working with what we are used to having on that side of the ball. We just don’t.
How many on our offense will be heading to the league?

Are you saying that Clemson OC & DC are learn-on-the-job?

The o/p is interesting because Dabo and Nick take the opposite approach to staffing and have both had success.
Both approaches can work (as we've seen) - it is about having the right people. At this point people cheering for either team might say Brandon Streeter and Jim O'Brien are the wrong people.
But the idea that a program with national championship aspirations can take a year off from competitiveness while the coordinators learn their jobs is ludicrous - and Dabo would be the first to say so.
