Didn’t graduate from Clemson but was in stands in 87-88 watching Terry Allen run over and around everyone while we only completed about 6 passes a game. NOT A COOT

You can’t start out on here with anything that can remotely be perceived as critical, regardless if the question/statement is valid. Your first 105 posts have to be excessively homer or the “coot” gatekeepers kill your pulse. I offer myself as Exhibit A.

There are a number of guys here who think they are some sort of gatekeeper. They take their self-appointed position very seriously. So, if you have skin as thin as theirs, take care in what you post and use sarcasm at your own risk.

I actually find this to be a great question. DH did not have a great year. Why? My opinion - and it’s just an opinion - he’s not well suited to a college offense. He doesn’t have a natural feel for the rpo game. I don’t thinknii you oh can teach it. Either you see what’s developing or you put don’t. He has all the tangibles to be a great thrower. Big arm. Can drop in the deep fade. Lacks touch. But really struggles reading what is going on around him.

Even though the question should be asked in a more respectful manner, I will answer. 1. I think it is mental. He can't seem to look at the coverage, make reads, and avoid the rush. He seems to panic. 2. He is not healthy. 3. Our receiving corps was shallow this year. 4. Our running game sucked first half of season. 5. Our O.L. could have played a lot better. 6. He is not T L. and T.E. simply plugged him into a system he is not ideal for.

Some folks are especially touchy today after UGA purchased their natty last night. You should be able to ask a question without being called a “coot.”
I think it was a terrible combination of things this year. Folks who say he’s just no good are ignoring his HS tape and two great performances in relief of TL during his freshman year.
He clearly regressed. Whether that’s coaching or mental or both I don’t know.
What was very clear is the combination of our antiquated passing offense (route and read system) with inexperienced/injured/poorly-position-coached WRs meant that DJ often found himself without open receivers. And, for whatever reason, he was rarely able to adjust or “throw open” receivers.

Valid points but I’m having a hard time believing that he isn’t just a bust. 1) I ignore the high school stuff because history is littered with great high school players who didn’t pan out. 2) With that said, we have 15 points (games) of reference. 2 good/great and 13 bad. Even adding back in most of the drops, he still posts mediocre numbers at best. 3) He never got any better through those 13 games. Yes, he got banged up but he never got better on any aspect. Passing, running, decision making, apparent understanding of the offense, etc.
To be clear, when I say bust, it is not an indictment against him personally or his character. Busts happen.

To sum up what I was stating above, I have viewed the 2 great/good games as outliers. The type of games that sporadically happen. See Kenny “The thrill” Hill’s start at Texas A&M and South Carolina Stephen Garcia’s entire career as references.

I dont know the extent of his injuries but we knew he was a pro style 0asser when he got here and we have had an rpo offense. It also appears he has lead feet and trouble making reads and check-offs.
Like most. Im pulling for him, but he has his work cut out for him.
