I remember TL’s freshman season

First few games of that season Kelly Bryant was struggling. A lot of fans were calling for TL to be the starter. There were so many other fans supporting KB. I kept hearing things like, “just wait. Kelly will put it all together and you’ll see how good he can be. Even when TL played as a backup it was easy to see his talent and how everything seemed to change when he was in the game. Still a lot of fans threw support behind Kelly. Some things never change.

I thought DJ looked MUCH better last night than he did last year. He was accurate and showed more command. But he also seemed to be a step slow in everything. Slow runner. Slow making decisions. Slow getting the ball out of his hands. I think we can win with DJ, but not be dominant. He can be a solid QB, but his ceiling is lower than I believe Cade’s will be. Every time I’ve seen Cade (high school, Elite 11, Spring, last night) he just seems to have “it”.

I’m looking forward to the competition.

Dabo managed the KB situation perfectly

the whole team realized TL was the guy even though they loved and respected KB.

If that happens with Cade here, Dabo will once again have handled it perfectly. If it doesn't, he will also have handled it perfectly by not abandoning DJ after 1, even 2-3 games.

Can't see why many don't realize we're in a really great place regarding QB

We’re in a great position and it’s gonna be fun to watch it play out. Dabo will make the right call at the right time. There is no need to rush a decision.

Yep. DJ is slow in making reads, check downs, running. The whole offense just seems a step behind. When Cade came in last night I sensed an almost immediate transformation. Plays were called more quickly, Cade rolled out very fast and threw beautiful spirals on the run. He just shows much more get up and go than DJ, and the team responded. It's almost the same as four years ago with Kelly and Trevor. Now, DJ has two more shots in the next two games against terrible teams. If he does not show marked improvement, I think Cade gets plenty more playing time and might even start against Wake.

I don't disagree and hope you will not disagree that 4 minutes of mop up time in a blowout is not a big enough sample to draw a conclusion. The next 2 games may give a better picture if Cade plays with the 1's against 1's in the 1st half.

I'm another that agrees with all the above, and look forward to all the developments and internal competition in the next three games.
