Corbin or O'Sullivan
Jun 4, 2015, 12:20 PM

|
Can we please stop the Corbin and O'Sullivan talk every time the head coaching position comes up. Neither of them are leaving the schools they are at.
Vandy and UF have the type of facilities we are trying to catch up to, are recruiting at levels to put them in Omaha consistently, and have more than enough money to outbid us on this. Neither of them have any ties back to the school or area other than coaching under the guy we just fired...
It's not like they are coaching at a small tech school, they are at two baseball powerhouses who have the money to put into the program.
I love Clemson and Clemson Baseball and know we are going to be an amazing job for our next coach, but suggesting those two in particular seems a bit absurd.

Considering he is from Florida I'd say it's a wash.

Having been to all three stadiums (Clemson Alum, Family full of Gators, and Currently living in Nashville) I would have to disagree. Our facilities will be just as nice in a year, but everyone knows athletics is an arms race so it's not like they are going be stagnant on building in Nashville and Gainesville.
Prestige- yeah we have a longer history, but something tells me that doesn't sell recruits harder than the whole "what have you done for me lately" argument. The same argument we are using with the #WRU thing against UT.

We aren't decades removed from national success...

Hell Florida finished with a losing record 3 years ago. Us firing Leggett is akin to Oklahoma firing Bob Stoops if he finishes with an 8-5 record for the next two years.

All I was trying to point out is Vandy and Florida have had more success than us recently. Lots of SEC titles, regional wins, and even a national title have came from those two schools recently. By suggesting either of those two would leave to come here is akin to saying Bob Stoops would leave Oklahoma for Texas...
I know Clemson is a great job, but of all the coaches we could get, it won't be those two. Unless DRad has some magical convincing power up his sleeve. Hell maybe Dabo should call them... He can sell Clemson better than anyone

It is also FAR easier to recruit at either school than it is at Clemson. At Florida it's because of their lottery scholarship program. At Vanderbilt it's their foundation. The main thing Clemson can offer over either program is more butts in seats, and that's a pretty minor selling point to a coach.

O'Sullivan's wife is from Clemson and they still live in the area. I'm sure his kids being able to spend more time with their grandparents, as well as his wife with her family, carry a little bit of weight.
Not to mention Clemson is a wonderful place to live, and there is somethin in these hills.

Sully does have ties to the school and this area. Just ask his wife who, as rumor has it, would like to be closer to this area (her home).
With respect to facilities, Clemson's (especially with the renovations and upgrades) are on par with any in the country.
