True or False...Jack Leggett was capable of winning a CWS
Jun 7, 2015, 3:26 PM

at Clemson?
I for one had zero confidence Jack could win a title.
I think based on what little I really know about him that he was s good man, a good coach and did a good job while at Clemson. But I had little faith that he could win it all.
Therefore, if our goal is to win a CWS, why wouldn't we want to make a change?
Thank you for all your efforts at Clemson coach, but sometimes change is needed.
Let's move on and hire a great coach and get some life blown back into this program

Win the CWS? Heck. he won the ACC only twice in 20 plus tries so why would any rational fan expect he could win it all? Basically he is a good guy and a HOF coach based on his ability to win just enough games to keep his job for 20 plus years. Finding a coach with more upside will not be the hardest thing on Drad's agenda.

He was certainly capable

If you can take a team to the CWS on multiple occasions, then you are capable of winning it all. It doesn't mean you will, but having one of the top 8 teams in College baseball is impressive. You've got to be in it to win it.

Completely false. We had the best team in the nation by far with Baker, Greene and that bunch and nothing to show for it.

True. Worse coaches than Leggett have won one

At some point in the CWS its not enough to be better. You have to get lucky. The best team hardly ever wins. The regional play format in both the regional and CWS make it less challenging to take out a top team.

He clearly proved that he could not.

He had the talent and the staff to get there several times, but that faded away 3-4 years ago. The program has been spiraling downward since. Jack was done and he knew it. He probably knew it last year, but he got another chance anyway. Thanks to Jack Leggett for serving us well and doing his best. Time to move on.

Facilities upgrades, contract extension far out of balance with his level of success... we can't fire him now. 1-2 more seasons.

Because DRad know its better to invest in a proven loser than a proven winner. That's why he's the AD, not us dummies.

yes because Basketball and baseball at Clemson are held to the same standards and have the same tools and resources in place to be successful....
