Usually, online media bloggers gather their news by going to team-specific fansites such as this, briefly opening threads and glancing at the first sentence or two of the posts to get their gist of fanbase emotions on topics.

these days. There are exceptions but they're few and far between. It's mostly an entertainment medium - and the more sensational the better.
