From Cane Insider :
Some parents suffer from separation anxiety when their kids go off to college. This is not the case with Mrs. Fulwood as she wants her son to gain real world experience to make him into a man. “I would like for him to leave Florida because I would like for him to get that college experience away from home. That will help him grow up, it will help him become a man and more responsible. Once he leaves home and goes to college that is going to be the real test. Everything that I taught him and raised him, he is going to have to do that on his own.” In the recruiting process, parents are often heavily involved in the athlete’s decision. It is not any different with Ahmad as he says that it is important to him that the coach and his mom have a good relationship. “The final decision will be him, but I would want to meet the coaches and give my feedback because he is young,” she said. “If I don’t have a good feeling about that coach or I don’t like what I see, I will voice my opinion. I think it is important that I do like the coaches, but the final decision is his.”
“In terms of decision making, I told him whatever decision he makes will have consequences,” she said (Fulwood's mother). “It could be good or bad. I am really big on him making wise choice because I want him to think of the choices he makes and how it will affect him down the road. I told him right now, I don’t want him to look at schools that are having problems. Schools that have questionable recruiting like Auburn, Ohio State, Oregon. He says ‘Mom all schools have problems. Some of them probably haven’t been brought to the surface yet.’ Again, going to his choices, I want to make sure he makes the right choice. Those high profile schools and Miami, those schools that are having problems, I don’t want him to look at right now.”
