Bowden would pick Deshaun Watson as his go to QB |
Former Clemson coach and current Fox Sports South analyst Tommy Bowden had some interesting thoughts the top quarterbacks in college football in a recent interview with The Opening Kickoff on WNSP-FM 105.5.
"Right now, I would take Deshaun Watson for this particular reason: he's got a proven track record," Bowden said which quarterback he would chose in the entire nation. "Does Lamar Jackson run the ball better? Yeah, he's a great runner. DeShaun Watson is a good runner. Right now, Lamar Jackson might throw the ball as well as DeShaun, but he doesn't have the track record. "If I had to win one game today, if I had to beat Alabama today, who would I want? I'd take DeShaun Watson because of his track record. In another year, you might say the same thing about Lamar Jackson. Then, I would take him." Watson completed 333 of 491 passes (67.8%) for 4,104 yards and 35 touchdowns and also had 207 rushes for 1105 yards and 12 scores last season. His 5,209 yards of total offense and his 47 total touchdowns were ACC records, and his rushing total was a record for a Clemson quarterback. For his career, he has 7142 passing yards with 67 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
