David Skara to return to Clemson?

Forward David Skara is trying to return to Clemson for a final season, but whether the native of Croatia is able to suit up for Brad Brownell will come down to some paperwork.

Although he was in line to compete for a starting position, Skara decided during the spring to forfeit his final year of NCAA eligibility to pursue professional basketball. However, TigerNet has learned that Skara is attempting to return to the Clemson program for a final season.

According to one source we spoke with, the process of reinstating Skara won't be quick. The source said that the paperwork process could take a long time.

Skara emerged as a top defender last season and his playing time increased after the injury to Donte Grantham. Skara averaged 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 26 games, including seven starts.

Skara joined Clemson two years ago as a transfer from Valparaiso. He sat out 2016-17 per transfer rules and then sat out nine more games due to an NCAA eligibility-related suspension. Skara played his first game as a Tiger in the big win against Florida.

With the departure of Grantham, Skara could compete for a starting spot, competing with Amir Simms for the starting job at power forward. It’s also possible that Simms shifts down to small forward if getting more minutes for Malik William or freshman Trey Jemison makes sense for Brownell.
