The Clemson-led USA Team edged Israel 75-73 to advance to the Gold Medal Game of the World University Games on Tuesday.

Aamir Simms led the way with 27 points and 16 rebounds. He was joined in double-figures scoring by Al-Amir Dawes (16) and John Newman III (10).

The U.S. team led by as much seven points in the final minutes but staved off an Israel rally, including a missed buzzer-beater from behind halfcourt that went off the backboard. Brad Brownell's group trailed 26-12 after the first quarter.

The USA Tigers dominated the boards, out-rebounding Israel 53-36.

The Gold Medal final will be the United States in a rematch with Ukraine at 2 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday (broadcast by FISU.tv). The U.S. team downed Ukraine 58-57 in pool play.
