Clemson's upset bid at #5 Louisville falls short |
A 17-0 run to start the second half was too much for Clemson to overcome, and the Tigers missed out on an early-season upset in losing 58-52 to No. 5 Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center Tuesday night.
Clemson played well enough to hang close in the first half, and a late run enabled the Tigers to take a 22-18 lead into intermission. However, Louisville’s patented full-court defense led to easy shots on the offense end and Clemson went a little under seven minutes before scoring as the Cardinals took a 35-22 lead. The run was stopped on a 3-pointer by Damarcus HarrisonDamarcus Harrison Blossomgame and Harrison led the Tigers with 15 points and 12 points respectively, and they were the only Tigers in double figures. Landry NnokoLandry Nnoko The Tigers fall to 8-6 overall, 0-2 in the ACC as they face a noon tipoff at Pitt Saturday. Louisville improves to 14-1 overall, 2-0 in the ACC.
