Clemson women’s golf selected for eighth-straight NCAA Regional

by -

Clemson, SC - ACC Runner-Up Clemson was selected to the Bryan, Texas Regional of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship on Wednesday afternoon, to be held May 6-8. Coach Kelley Hester’s team will be one of 12 teams in the field, where the top-five teams after 54 holes on stroke play advance to the National Championship Tournament in Carlsbad, Calif., May 17-22.

The Bryan Regional will be held at The Traditions Club and hosted by Texas A&M University.

This will be Clemson’s eighth-consecutive NCAA Women’s Golf Tournament and ninth selection in ten possible opportunities. The team missed the 2015 tournament, and the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 tournament.

Last season, Clemson finished second at the Pullman, Wash., Regional to advance to the National Tournament for the second time in school history, where they finished T24. Clemson’s highest finish before last season was in 2017, where they finished fifth at the Athens, Ga., regional.

The field at the Bryan Regional includes the No. 1 seed LSU, who currently boasts a #5 national ranking, as well as host Texas A&M as the No. 2 seed, currently ranked #12 nationally. Clemson is the No. 3 seed with a #17 overall national ranking. Vanderbilt is the No. 4 seed with a #20 national ranking.

The other teams in the field include SMU, Ohio State, Maryland, Iowa State, Texas State, Sam Houston, Sacred Heart and Little Rock.

Clemson has played against five of the 12 participating teams in the Bryan Regional, with LSU, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Ohio State and Maryland all participating in the 2024 Clemson Invitational in March.
